June 6, 1989
Many books returned this month, as the school year draws to a
close. Circulation was 9,534. We accounted for 10% of the
system's interloan, and 15% of the out-of-system loan during the
first quarter of 1989.
Committee meetings in May included System Budget, Film Preview,
and Special Users.
Penny attended an ETN class on children's books.
The May artist was Arlene Sei.2'.
We will be receiving material,; under the special users' grant
worth about $400.00. Project Worker Corliss Rice visited Tudor
Oaks and Muskego Nursing Home as a part of the grant, which will
enable the library system to sssess the needs of the county's
elderly readers. Cassettes w'zre mentioned as being useful to
bedridden or handicapped people.
The district librarians and reading specialists met here to
compile next year's Readers' 'Zhoice book list. It is a pleasure
to work with such a dedicated group of professionals.
Holly served on an interview jpanel for the City of Milwaukee. The
day-long session is held to listen to and rank oral exams for
candidates desiring promotion within city libraries.
Storyhours concluded this mon.:h. Vernon Daycare and Country
Meadows first graders visited. Bedtime storyhour was
well-attended. Summer Readinq Program begins June 8th. Be sure
to check out the jungle, and take part in the gorilla raffle
during our "Summer Safari." .is an experiment, class visits were
