LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
August 2, 1988 e
Another good month, with circulation over 10,000.
We had a visit from WCTC librarians Joyce Laabs and Ruth Ahl.
Joyce is a Muskego resident who likes some things about our I
arrangement and procedures and wanted her boss to see them. These
include office workstations and periodical gisplaycand check-out.
The party for departing Library Board member Olga Mimier was a
great success. She asked me to thank everyone for their
thoughtfulness.
We had a lovely visit with f,srmer employee Melissa Matz, who is
just back from Britain. She brought her pictures, while we took a
break and drooled.

Kathy GKOegeK was the July Artist-of-the-Month. ThPt-e were many
favorable comments on her pa,stel paintings. The Muskego Creative
Photographers' Guild will be displaying in August.
Children's programs have been wildly creative this month. A
Muncheon Luncheon was held in the gazebo. Bubble day,
book-making, (i.e. making a book, not making a bet!) readers'
theatre, bedtime stories and playground visits have kept the joint
last programs for the summer. We have had about 500 children
jumping. Discovery Days has been a visitor. WCFLS gave their
register for the summer reading program, and the reading tree in
the children's section grows apace.
We finished the extensive testing the CD-ROM grant required, and
and feel it is very promising, we feel the hardware, software and
have sent our report to Madison. Although we applaud the concept,
CD technology still have many faults.
We are in the process of re-organizing the circulation desk area.
We are also experimenting with a technical services routing slip,
which should speed the materj.als carts along, and lessen
confusion, as they are handled by so many people.
Our shelving may be put up scion, as PW is no longer waiting for
rain to do it. As soon as the shelving gets up, we have some
ideas for re-arranging the furnace room storage area.
The page position has been advertised, and we hope to fill it by
the end of next week. This cmpen position puts us all behind a
bit, as one of OUT summer students has quit, saying she wants some
fun before school starts!
