. ~e LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
March I, 1988
A busy month, with circulation of 11,000. Our statistics were
compiled for 1987, and have been compared to previous years.
(Copies.) All of our numbers have been going up, except the
amount of books added: that is 30% lower than in 1981. We now
have over 10,000 registered borrowers, and we answered more than
30,000 questions in 1987.
The state annual report has been submitted to the system, and is
in the process of being vett:ed. Copies should be able to be
passed out next month.
The eight-week storyhour session is finished. The parent program
was enjoyed by snall audienc:es, but we are going to try it again
and hope to meet interested parents there. The new session of

I spoke to a group of enthusiastic teachers on an "in service"
to get teachers away from wcrkbooks and into using children's
trade books throughout the mrriculum. I booktalked many new
children's books, and spoke about system services. Penny showed
them the puppet collection, which is available for loan to child a care providers.
Our county aid payment of $15,521.00 arrived.

Please be aware of the forthcoming trustee workshop and ETN
courses.
The CD-ROM disk used in WAUK-A-CAT has been re-mastered. The
holdings have increased frorr. 266,000 unique titles to 319,000
unique titles. This increase reflects the county's
retroconversion.
Penny and Teri were invited to give a presentation on the library
several new applications, and we are suggesting the T.O. bus make
to the residents of Tudor Oaks. It was well received: we took
the library a regular stop, as "outreach" is almost impossible for
us.
The Waukesha County Literacy project has found its first Muskego
student, and a weekly class is held in the Lion's Den.
Nickie Sobolewski was the February Artist of the Month.
