Minutes of the November 3, 1987 meeting were approved on motion of

adopted July 5, 1983 were reviewed. Proposed revisions will be on the

LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
December 1, 1987
We funally received news of cur 1988 system grant: state and
county funds in the amount of: $22,887.00, similar to last years.
We will also be getting money. through the system's agreement with
Lakeshores, probably about $€:,000.
Activities this month have ir;.cluded reference updates attended by
Phyllis and Linda, which focused on materials in the arts, and on
AIDS. Charlene went to a nek' book expo held by our major jobber
Baker & Taylor, and Penny enfoyed a seminar on storytelling
offered by Dr. Carolyn Feller Bauer. An automation meeting was

held at Waukesha Public Library. Linda and Holly represented

badge, and gathered picture ttooks for a MHS class. Penny and Teri
did preschool programs for Pilgrim Playmates, Willow Edge and
Vernon Day Care, as well as our regular story times. 186 children
and 25 adults attended the programs.
Penny and Teri have been busy with holiday activities. The craft
programs are going well. A t.urkey made of ties children brought
from home is hanging in the library. A smaller turkey sat on the

donated by the Friends of the Library.
American Legion Auxillary unit No. 356 gave us a supply of safety
education booklets which were distributed to preschoolers.
The city budget as passed inc:luded our request for a page. The
position will be posted soon, to begin after January 1st.
The November Artist of the .Mc'nth was photographer Fred Washa.
Our YEP student, Judy Hackbarth, worked 35 hours in November, and
25 volunteer hours were logged.
Looking ahead: Holly will be speaking to the Waukesha Reading
Adolescent." A similar program will be part of a reading
Council Thursday night on them topic of "New Books, Pre-school to
inservice in February.
In the new year, the school ilistrict and the library will be
held concurrently with storyh.our. These will be based on Dr. Mary
cooperating to present an ei5:ht-week series of parent programs
Jett-Simpson's video tapes, "Learning to Read Begins at Home." We
will be pulling books, compiling bibliographies and acting as
resource people for the programs.
I hope to be on vacation the week of December 14th.
