* .e - LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
June 2, 1987
We have been busy as some staff depart, and we look for replacement
fun. Last minute school assignnents have kept us hopping, too.
Ruth Roetz from the Prospect Aid Society came to see me about their
group exhibiting baby quilts. We are thinking of using' the wall
across from the display case. Elrofit from the sale of these hand-made
items goes to their re-building fund. If anyone is interested in
purchasing a quilt, we will have a phone number for them to call. We
staff is not involved in sales.
routinely do this for the artist.s of the month, and in that way the
Response to the hand weavers' exhibit was excellent. Lucille
Schueitzer's oil paintings are on display now.
Our state aid payment of $6,950.00 came this month, and has been
deposited to the system account.
Charlene and Holly continued to .attend system budget meetings at
Brookfield and Oconomowoc. Ocon, mowoc's new library is splendid. It
seems no building project goes entirely smoothly. Some of their
furniture arrived in the wrong color, but they are able to use it
until the replacements come.
Waukesha Public's unsteady shelves caused-quite a bit of comment. The
installer was our runner-up bidder... Waukesha is scheduled to open
workers. Thanks to everyone who made our retirement luncheon so much
eJune We are supposed to be getting a summer worker from the Youth
Employment Program. Melissa attended a manditory supervisor training
session.
A film preview meeting was held at Menomonee Falls, and Melissa
represented Muskego, as well as going to Franklin for a workshop on
recruiting and supervising volunteers.
Franklin was also the site of a seminar on effective communication in
the library, attended by Linda and Phyllis.
Melissa and Teri have been working on planning the summer reading
program, have presented three regular storyhour sessions, a Mother's
Day craft program, and preschool .sessions for Vernon Day Care and
Kindercare Learning Center. A total of 209 children have attended
programs this month.
I talked to Charlotte about the board's past practice of cancelling
meetings. We need to re-schedule them in future, as approval of
vouchers needs a quorum.
