LIBRARIAN'S REPORT February 3, 1987 How fitting to have a library bo.srd meeting tonight: one year to the day since our re-opening. WCFLS grant planning and committee work began last month. Linda Brown attended an INLEX/Hewlett Packar3 demonstration in Brookfield: Charlene Lenzen went to a multit.ype library cooperation meeting: Melissa went to a special needs grant meeting, and she and Holly helped in a children's services planning grant. The county gave us a $1,000 materials grant. We will use it to add to the educational filmstrip/cassette collection by purchasing materials done by National Geographic. The retrospective conversion grant has ended, and the city has been reimbursed for the last of the salary money they advanced. The balance of our 1986 payment from Lakeshores, $3,122.79, has arrived. Response to the new wooden bookc,sses, made by Ray Christenson for the Friends of the Library! has been warm. We've had many compliments on. the workmanship. We have recieved the gift of a hrge plant (a small tree?) from Mike Corcoran and Sue Cauley. We have purchased two multi-colored rag rugs for storyhour. The linoleum is cold for the kids to sit on, and the carpet remanents a e've used for a year (left from construction) are shredded. January's Artist of the Month wa;3 Mildred Myers. The year is filled already with exhibitors, and Melissa is taking reservations for 1988. Both sessions of storyhour are filled, with special programs being planned for Valentine's Day.
