Muskego has the fourth largest circulation in the county, and is the third highest user of inter-l ibrary loan. Several of our staff attended a stress-management workshop held at Brown Deer 1 ibrary. Close contact with the publ ic and deadl ine-oriented work can be stressful. Our folks learned about the hidden sources of stress, and some coping behaviors which can make them bearable. The shelving shortfall was ordered after the ,first of the year. The 51 magazine shelves arrived, were hammered back into shape, put together, and hung. The "final" shifting of the periodicals section was finished this morning. We ordered an eighty-column text card for the downstairs Apple I Ie. This is the device which gives the computer 128k memory. As Holly was loading the 1 ibrary board pol icy into the computer to print it, she real ized that it was possible to create a bigger document on the upstairs computer: one which would not "fit" into the one downstairs, and hence, one which could not be printed without difficulty. - Linda and Holly attended a meeting at New Berlin Library on the retroconver- sion grant. We have finished 60% of what we told the state we were going to do this year, so we are in good shape. Holly has written Muskego's portion of the request for the grant continuation. Muskego has been involved in some time study of circulation procedures for the automation committee. On one day tested, it took 11.56 hours (staff hours) to perform the circulation functions. Another day, 26.60 hours were needed. The WCFLS check for 19,498.00 has arrived. The state check has yet to come. Vi Joy read our annual report and synthesized it in a recent Sun article. It was a lovely article, but there were two errors and an admISsion. The num- ber of registered borrowers is around 7,000, not 4,000. The cataloging staff was cut by one-third, not the staff proper. Finally, the circulation did drop in 1894, but there is a direct relationship between that drop and the extension of the loan period to four weeks. Such a move thins out traffic, which we saw as an added benefit in the overcrowding situation. ~ruSKEGO PUBLIC LIB&\Rì APPROPRIATIONS AJ.\jD EXPENDITURES ---------------------- 571 00-11 00 SALARIES ---------------- -- :'>7100-3211 OFFICE SUPPLIES & ---- ---------------------------- -- -- ----- OTHER EXPENSES ------------------- --- 57]00-3213 PRINT MATERIALS _-__-un - ----------------------- c, / 1 00- J 511 RENTALS AND LE.AS ES __n______------- -------- ------- 51 L C~Q--~_5_L9_CL--J~n!Dl_NENX); \ Il~TEl'IA-"iCJ::. 5}Ji'.9-=-_6_~ O.Q----.TI:JÆPI-!ON E TOTALS 3101 0 FLDEr~\TED SYSTEH Fl.!~m - - -- - -- --------- -------- ------- F 1 ~~E ~10::;EY -- -- -- - n - --m_- DEPOSIT - --- - --- -- --- ----------- -- --- -- -------- 458.58 TOTAL KEVENUE TO DATE C; A \' r ;~ DEPOSIT -----~----------------- --- 434.70 TOTAL TAXABLE REVENUE TO DATE APPROPR1ATIONS - - ----- - -- -- ---- 119,669.00 B,OOO.OO 28,000.00 2,600.00 1,500.00 2,178.00 _n______----------- 161,947.00 21,186.86 738.82 702.00 March 5, 1985 EXPENSES u- --------- THIS HONTH ---- -- -- ------- 9,197.08 1,487.26 5,805.86 179.66 .00 43.79 ------- 16,713.65 581.83 EXPENSES -___-__n- TO DATE - ----- 16,325.26 3,250.56 9,895.10 349.66 200.35 --------- 30,020.93 581.83 BALANCE -- ------ 103,343.74 4,749.44 18,104.90 2,250.34 .00 1,500.00 1,977.65 131,926.07 20,605.03 t-1USKEGO PUBLI C L!
