Mrs. Dibb with- drew her second and Mr. lreuser lIOved that the chairman appoint a co_it tee to draft policy 1:0 cover all eventuali~ies for display of arts and crafts in the library J Mrs. Dibb seconded and motion carried. Mrs. Mimier appointed ..bel'S Buhrandt.. Dibb and Kreuser to .serve on the committee. Mrs. Lindhorst. announced that Libby Nolan had requesteda"booJt list with one line description of the books for publication in the Muskego SUn. Shealso infonted the board of a gift of a 1971 t.1oody's Industrial Manual fr01l a sale,s... man and that the library had received $20 from the JWlg. Kramer and Dibb fam... ilies to purchase. four first grade books in memory of Mrs. Carol Vieth. fcmaer first grade teacher at Durham School. . The secretary was instructed to send thank YO\l 1ett8r5 to the families. The board decided not to purchase a Milwaukee City Directory for $125, since , all information contained in the directory can be. supplied by a phone call to the Milwaukee Public Library. Mrs. Lindhorst recouends that the board pass up, for the present, a request to join the newly-organized. Milwaukee-Metro Area Libraries. Charter membership costs $15 per year. Mrs. Peløann had started her report on the evaluation of our collection and will have it ready for the April meeting. Upon her question of a runner to protect the carpeting in front of the charge desk, Mrs. LindbDrst was instructed to call Mr. Dahlen about a specially treat- ed dust collector runner presently used in the schools. . . Mrs. Modlinski reported receiving a bill for a bubble top eover for the record player which is to be paid from the gift fwld. She pointed out that a new co- signer with Mrs. Modlinski, for bank accoUnt withdrawals.. Mrs. Mimier agreed to meet. Mrs. Modlinski to change the necessary bant forms. Mrs. Lindhorst reported that the story hour was a huge success. 60 to 10 chil- dren had attended. It was so crowded that registration of the youngsters or. possibly setting an age limit was suggested as a way to control the size of the group. This still left a problem of offering some activity t,o occupy the wait- ing mothers. It was suggested that film programs or discussions be made avail- able to the mothers. Mrs. Lindhorst wiU speak to Mr. Poldy about using the . Council Chambers for this purpose and will also contact ora.gnizations abol1t their interest in helping with this project. The display case for "Old Ironsides" was again discussed. The pro\?lem of loca- tion in the library will be discussed at the next meeting when Mrs. Lindhorst will bring in her recommendation for placement. Mrs. Mimier advised the board to start thinking about nèW goals or a series of goals for the. library. She suggested that l"ather than become stagnant in our thinking, now that we have the new building, that we start to seriously COD- sider our next project whether it may be more services, staff, more hours or a county library system: Board members should be ready to discuss their views at the next meeting. . The librarian would be asked to set up a years work schedule for five or 'si:l :high- schOol students who would do volunteer work in the library one dLy a week and wo~ld receive partial class çredit for their work through a cooperating teacher.
