PRESENT: Pres. Lenz, me~bers Buhrandtþ Dlbb, Leichtfuss, Kreuser,
M1mler. Modllnskl and Tels1. Mrs. Lindhorst also present.

Mrs. Leichtfuss moved to approve the May II, 1972 ~inutest Mrs.
Mlmier seconded and motion carried.

Mrs~ Modlinski moved to approve bills in the amount of $3.965.82.
Mrs~ Lelchtfuss seconded and motion carried. Mrs. Lindhorst ex-
plained that due to lack of storage space the new shelving 1s being
stored in the oity annex building basement and she is concerned as
to possible damage due to dampness. She further explained that she
has been unaþle to check the orders to see whether they are complete
beca~se theu are delivered directly to the annexo She was advised
to send an explicit cover letter with the partial payment reserving
the right to withhold total payment until she can check the orders.
She was also instructed to call Mr. Kreuser who will arrange tem-
porary storage in the school for future furntture deliverieso
Mrsø Lenz reported that the Friends are seeking volunteers to work
at their book booth during the Muskego Country Fair, July 14 through
July 160 Volunteers would work a 2-3 hour shift taking care of book
sales and overseeing the fish pond. Anyone interested should QC'ntact

Board members oongratulated Mrs. Lenz on her reoent election as chair-
man of the Southeast Wisoonsin Library Trustees Assoclat~ono
Mrs. Mlmler reported that the arohitect had changed the opening date
f()r the city hall-library bUildIng to somewhere between July 15 and
A,!gust 1. The change in dates was explained as due to the painters
being on strike and the rough grading, black-topping of the drive-
way, carpeting and tiling not being completed.. Mrs. Mimler also ex-
plained that the lobby display case, 8'x4'xl2", as planned by the
architects, does not have the depth required to hold our ship col-
. lection. She will call Mr. Oazinski and have him change the depth
of the shelves to 16" to accomlF:Jdata our 14" (depth) ship.

Mrs. Buhrandt reported that the A &: P had agreed to loan the library
their conveyor belt to help with the move. The library board members
have agreed to provide and serve sandw1ches and beverages to the vol-
unteers of the 84th a~serve Unit on moving dayo The secretary was
instracted to write to the Commanding General of the 84th explaining
the change in mov1ng day and to request h1s aid at a later date.

Mrs. Buhrandt also reported that in order to better coordinate colors
she w11l wait until she sees a carpeting sample before arriving at a
final decision on the color of paint to use on the old end pänels.
Mrs. Lindhorst reported that Mrs. Buehlmier of the Brookfield library
informed ber that due to a delay on their new building the Brookfield
library board has not made a decision on price and the items of used
furniture they wiah to sell. Mrs. Buehlmier will oall Mrs. Lindhorst
as sOon as they come to a decision.
Mr. DeBack's report was given by Mrs. Lenz. She explained that the
Muskego Police w11l deliver the mail to the library bq.t other arran~-
menta must be made after the move to the new building. On the oity s
retirement age; the city's policy is retirement at age 65 years but it ia nøt mandatory. A more detailed report on pensions will be given at
the July meeting.
Mr. Kreuser reported on his conversation with Mr. Gazinski about the
book return box. Mr. Gazinski favors placing the book de~ository in
a panel next to the east door of the library so that books may be de-
posited directly into the library from the outside. It would be a
spring loaded depository which drops books into a box on wheels. Mr.
Kreuser moved to approve Mr. Gazinskl's reco~mendation, as described,
for the book drop-depository, model number 615SD, and a book cart,
Mrs" Leichtfuss seconded and the 'TIotlon carried.
After speaking to Mr. Crane, Head Librarian of the Menomonee Falls
Library about their successful amnesty day, Mrs. Lindhorst asked the
board to consider an amnesty period during the 10 day closing due to
moving. Mrs. Mimier moved that during the period of library moving
that all books returned then are not subject to fines and that this
amnesty period shall be publicized, Mrs. Dibb seconded and motion
carried.
The secretary was instructed to write to the MeN.E.A. about the funds
they have set aside for the library's use and to inform them that the
board may have some suggestions to offer them for its use after the
library moves to its new quarters. .
Mrs. Leiohtfuss suggested that a consultant be hired to make an 1n-
ventory of the library's holdings. Mr. Kreuser moved that Mrs. Lenz
appoint a ohalr:nan to investigate costs of a consultant service and
have a report ready for the July meeting, Mrs. Mimier seconded and
~otion carried. Mrs. Leichtfuss will serve as chairman.
Mrs. Teisl reported on the Waukesha County Library Systems Planning
Committee meeting on June 7. It was an organizational meeting; Lester
Beck was elected chairman, John Love, vice-chairman and Donald Kremer,
secretary. A resolution to invite all county librarians to the meet-
ings and also to send copies of the planning committee's minutes to
them was passed. The next meeting w1ll be held July 4. 1972 at the
Court House.
