MUSKEGO PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETING
BAY LANE LIBRARY
APRIL 12, 1972
PRESENT: Pres. Lenz, Members Buhrandt, Lelchtfuss, Mimler, Narlock
and Teisl. Mrs. Lindhorst also present.
Members Dibb, Kreuser and Modlinski ABSENT:
Mrs. Lenz called the meeting to order at 7:35 PoM.
Mrs. Leichtfuss moved approval of the March 8, 1972 minutes, Mrs.
Mlmier seconded and motion carried.
The next meeting will be held on May 10, 1972 at BAY LANE SCHOOL,

An invitation was read from the Bookfellows of Milwaukee to attend
a Book and Author dinner on May 2, 1972 at the Milwaukee Athletic
Club, Board members wel"e also invited to attend a Waukesha Library
. Association's dinner on April 15 to hear author Robert Gard speak.
Mrs. Lindhorst reported that library personnel are satisfied with
their salary increases and vacation time seemed to remain the samè
for full time workers but permanent part time workers will receive
proportionate vacation time.
Mrs. Lenz reported tha.t the Friends of the Library had been notified
that they will be receiving a $200 donation from Mr. and Mrs. Wayne
Radke of Muskego. Mitch Rosinski has offered to donate more boxes
of printed Friends bookmarks for distribution through the library.
Mrs. Mlmier reported that she was unable to reach the architects
for a progress report on the new building but she will try to reach
them tor the latest developmentso
Mrs. Lindhox'st informed the board of her purchase order for shelving
legs, side panel and tables. She requested the board's help in de-
cid1ng how- to ~rork the old peg board end panels into the new library
de r. It was suggested to redo them with acrylic paints in colors
to oordinate with the new library colors. Mrs. Buhrandt volunteer-
ed 0 help with the painting.
Mrs. Buhrandt reported that the 84th Army Division 1s willing to fur-
nish trucks and men, between 25 and 50, to help move the library.
They are available the weekend$ Qf May 22 and June 3 but not June 10
through 24 as they will be at '1"mp" She was advised to set up a ten-
tative moving data for July 1. Mrs. Buhrandt has also geen in touch
with the r~uskego \'loman's Club requesting their help in servln'llunch
to the men.. Mrs. Lindhorst will call the fIIuskego resident, ~Ptb""

Mr. Narlock moved approval of bills in the amount of $2.388..18,
seconded by Mrs. I"ilmier and motion carried.
Mrs. Lindhorst reported that the Police Department will not be de-
liver1ng library mail anymore and that the oartons of books are
very difficult for the e~ployees to 11ft and carry. Mrs. Lenz
will Qonsult with the Muskego Post:naster for a possible solution
t~o . thè problem..
Mrs. Lindhorst was advised to check on prices and condition of the
used children's library furniture offered for sale by the Brook-
field library.
An interview with a retired Waukesha reference librarian ~eeklng
emplo1ment in Muskego has brought up the interesting question of
wheth~Z' or not Muskeg~J has established a mandatory retirement age
. for city employees. Nr" Narlook wì.Il bring it up a.t the next Com-
mon Còunc11 meeting.
. Since clrcmlation at the ~ress Corners summer library has oonstan.tly
decreased over the past few years, ~rs. r~ichtruss moved to discon-
tinue the summer lib!'ar~1 program at Tess Corners school. Mrs.. Buh-
randt seoonded and motion carried..
