ABSENT: Preso Lenz, Mimier and Narlock. In the absence of the Chairman and Vice Chairman, Mrs. Lelcht- fuss was appointed Temporary Chairman and opened the meeting at 7:35 P.M. MrAs. Modlinskl moved approval of the February 9. 1972 minutes, Mrs. Dibb seconded and motion carried. Tbe next meeting will be held on WEDNESDAY~ APRIL 12, 1972, 7:30 P.M., at BAY LANE LIBRARY. Mrs. Lindhorst informed the board of a letter received report- ing the merger of the Wisconsin Trustees Association with the Wisconsin Librarians's Association. Mrs. Modlinskl moved approval of bills in the amount of $2,150.39, of wh1ch$l6.21 1s from accounts payable 1971, Mrs. Teisl seconded and motion carried. Mrs. Modlinski reported receiving a check for $200 from the Muskego Woman's Club. The secretary was instructed to write a thank you letter. Mrs. L1ndhorst informed the board that on March 14 the Common 'Council will de~ide on the wage increases for library pe~sonnelo Mrs. Smart of the Friends group discovered that the tape record- er needed repairs. She had the work done and has submitted a bill to the library. 'i I Mr, Kreuser reported meeting with Mr" Gazlnski about the pro- posed book drop. Mro Gazinskl promised to send him shop draw- ings of the thickness of the walls of the new building. After a d.iscussion on the possibilities of having one outer book drop for use when the building is closed and one interior one for use when the library ls closed but the lobby open the board de- cided on one permanent outside book drop to be used at all times when the library 1s closed. Mrs~ Lindhorst reported on the progress of the library bu11dlngo She has discovered that the plans call for cold air returns which will necessitate removing 4 book shelves she had origin- ally planned to use in the space" This change makes it neces- sary to purchase additional legs for shelving. The board ad- vised Mrs. Lindhorst to order legs as needed. She also report- ed the possibility of acquiring free beer oartons from a brew- ery for use in mov1ng books, whioh should also solve the problem of storing boxes until the nb1gu day.. c ~ .:.-...~.... . ; ~ .;r ~ Library Board Minutes March 8, 1972 Page 2 The board reviewed the bid from Wisconsin School Service on their Myrtle Brand furniture. Mrs. Teisl moved to accept the bids on Items 1, 2 and J from Wisconsin School Serv~oe on their Myrtle Brand furniture, Mrs. Buhrandt seconded and motion car- ried. It was recommended that the librarian explore the pos- slbility of ordering more at the same prlce.. The librarian announced that she did not intend to attend the program on Libraries and Cable TV in Madison. She aslo in- formed the board that the Division of L1braries, State of Wisconsin is setting up rules for library certification in or~er to establish countywide library systems. Tþe ne~d for someone to take over the job of organizing the library's "moving day" was discussed and Mrs. Buhrandt volun- teered to act as organizing chairman. Mrs. Lindhorst reported receiving permission to permit people interested in recording Muskego's history to attend the !TN mßetlng. The board authorized the librarian to purchase two hbur lnatructlonal tapes",to record program on how to take an oral history, in the amount of $5.000 ~ Mrs. Modlinski moved to adjourn, Mrs. Buhrandt seconded and motion carried.
