A lètter was readttom Mayor Gottfried explaining the city's de-
1}13ion for disqualifying Mrs. Sobolewski fqr employment as a library
(.;;ataloger- under the SmeX"genoy Employment Aòt of 1971 and suggesting
'~hat the board deôide upon another 8þplicant for the position.

Mrs. Mim1er seconded and motion carried.
f1rs.. Jean Luther. library ?ersonnel representat:1,'iTc, presented the
board with a request for reclassification of positions for library
staff and a,pprcpr1ate salary reoommendations for the þoslt1óÌ1S for
in an effort to lmprove existing inequities in salaries.. Mrs.. Mlm1er
moved that the board request changes in olass1flcatlon Of library
~erso,nnel~ detall$ to Qe. wo~ked out by a board liaison committee and
~t;he city's finance-oommlttee.. Mrs.. Tels1 seoonded ancl motion carried.
Mme$.. Lenz and Mill21er will serve as the liaison oommittee and call on
the MQyor to arrange a meeting wlth the fin~nce committee. Mrs. Luther
w111 supply them with information on comparable library positions and.

Mrs. Lindhorst reDorted that the public hearing on th~ clty.s 1912

Mrs.. l:enz rep6rted on a me,ting of the Friends of the Library on
Peoem~~r 1, 1971.. rhey h.~y~ decided to set aa1de $700 to be used

of ø.~~O~lng another t'-þlon phow-luncheon will be decided at their

j Mr. Kreuser reported that the book drop design has been oompleted and
he plans to meet with the arch1t~eots to work out the deta.ils. The
board. complimented him on his creative engineering gðnluß~
Mrs. Lindhorst reported on the lack of space for new books. It MaS
suggest.ed. that she cull old f'iotion from shelves to provide 1'00111 for
the naw books.
Mr. Kreuser wl11 have a leek installed on the closet at Denoon school
to proteot the stored l1brary books~
Hra. Lenz informed the board of the vacancy created by Mrs. Sobolewski's
resignation from the board and asked for names of people to reoommend
to the Mayor for appointment. It was suggested that Mrs. Nolan of the
Hub be informed of the vacancy and to a~k any resident interested in
serving on the board to call Mrs. f~nz. Mrs. Lenz will Qonsult with
the Mayor for his opinlon on using this method tr) fill thevaeancy..
Holiday olosing of the l1brary was discussed. The board decided to
leave the decision to Mrs. Lindhorst to either follow city hall's
soheduled olosings on the Friday afternoons ~rec~d1ng Christmas Eve
and New Year's Eve and the Monday between holidays or if she decides
to keep the library open. to allo\>J students it's use during their
ho11~ay. to make sure she and her staff take oom~ensator7 time off.
Krs~ Modl1nsk1 moved to adjourn. Mrs~ Dibb seconded and motion car-
ried. The meeting adJourned at 9:00 P.M.
