Mrs. Sobolewsk1 moved approval of the September 16, 1970 minutes, Mrs.
Modlinski seo~nded and motion carried.
The next board meet1ng will be held on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 1970,

Mr. Kreuser thanked the board for their oard noting on~ of h1s duties
as parliementarian.
A communicat1on from Mr. Eberhart of the Wisoonsin sta~e Department of
Iducation was read, 1n regard to the fao1lity questionn~ire survey form.
Suggestions were given to Mrs. Lindhorst in explaining to M~. Eberhart
our changed building plans since the questionnaire had bee~ completed.

No report available from the Friends of the Library.
No report on actlon of the Police Department in oollec~lng overdue books.
Mrs. Kimier read the memo from Mrs. Lenz requesting deferment of ~otion
on the policy regarding inspection of llbrary reoords by government
agenoles, until she NaS oresent to present her views. By conoensus the
board decided that policy as written ln the September 16, 1970 minutes
constituted a f1rst reading requ1re~nt but it would be open to more
dlsoussion before a second reading was given at a future meeting.
Mrs. Kimier read the report prepared by Mrs. Lenz on the Capital Im-
provement Comm1ttee meeting. TM~~~~fo>>qu<L~~the city
bulld in the Industr1al Center ~lä~gë~lo1p~~~ífa~dg" that could
house the library, city offioes and garages. The building would be
"Tn shaped, the garage in back and the c1ty ~fflces and library in front.
The front portion would be a shell with ~ng wall s~~~1; the

$250,000, of which $49,000 1s now available for the city garage. He
thinks the city can get a1d for ~lOO,OOO, which would leave approximately
$100,000 to be ralsed. The Mayor wants this plan to be put in ~efer-
endum in the spring: This ls~all in the planning stase. Nothing has
been decided by the Common Council. '
Mr. Kreuser moved that the library staff be allowed to wear slacks or
pants suits, Mrs. Modllnski seconded and motion carried.

Mrs. Lindhorst 1nformed the board that she had granted a request that
Mr. U11sperge~ Amer1can H1story class be al+owed the use of the Llb-
~r1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays trom 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. to en-
OQ~~age their use of the 11br~y for ind~pendent research projects.
It was announced that a meeting will be held at Alverno College on
November 18, 1970 at noon, to expla1n the Becker-Hayes report on
l1brary systems.
Board members examined some boo~s chosen by Mrs. Lindþorst to be
placed on the Ida Mae Haacke bookshelf. She welc9mes any suggest1ons
tor new t1tles fo~ the shelf þy board members.
