THURSDAY JULY 9. 1970
PRESENT: Mmes. Lenz. Dibb. Mimier, Sobolewski, Telsl and Messrs.
Kreuser and Narlock. Mrs. Lindhorst was also present.

Mrs. Lenz opened the meetin~ at 7150 pßm.
Mrs. ~lmier ~oved approval of the June 10, 1970 minutes, Mrs. Teisl
seconded and mot10n carried.
The next board meeting will be held on 1~NESDAY, AUGUST 5. 1970.

A letter fro:ñ Mayor Gottfried was read confirming the reappoint-
ment of Mmes. Sobolewski and Teisl to the board f~r 3 year terms.

A letter trom the carnegie Hero FUnd Commissi9n was read request-
lng help in sub~ltting newspaper clippings of local heroes to them
to determine whether or not they might quality tor awards. The
letter was referred to the Friends of the Library.
Mrs. Lenz read a letter from Mr. Mitch Bosinski informing us that
one half of the proceeds received by the V.F.W. at 'the Muske~
Fair will be donated to the Library building fun~.

Mrs. Mimier moved ap~r~val of bills 1n the amount of $lf9é&.69
general fund)and $6.66 encumbered account for a total of $1.~29.

Mrs. Lenz reported that the Friends of the Library are currently
conducting an informal survey of 200 families in Muskego for their
opinions on a library building and financing of sam~. ~he Friends
will meet on July 21, 1970 at Mrs. Honl's home to tabulate results
of the survey. Mr. Kreuser informed Mrs. Lenz that l1r. Popenfus
will not be available to act as a Friends' advisor as Mr. Popentus
did not renew his teaching contract.

Mrs. Lenz reported she had talked to Mrs. Cardimona of the Hub
about a news story about the library but they are too busy presently
with reporting A.F.S. activities. Mrs. Libby Nolan ran an article
in the Waukesha Freeman in the July 5. 1970 issue.
Mrs. Mimier reported that she and Mrs. Teisl toured the Waukesha
Library and an aþpolntment had been ~ade with a representative of
Link Builders for a tour of several of their reoently
cOllpleted ,-;etal build1ngs in l-laukesha on Tuesday, July 1~. 1970
at 9:00 a.m. Mrs. Lenz and Mrs. Lindhorst will join Mrs. Mim1er,
other board members were invited to attend also.

Mrs. Lenz reported she had not heard from Mr. Cerwin about Humble
Oil Co.'s decislon on the statlon on Hy 24 and Lannon Rd.
Mr. Narlook reported that Mayor Gottfried ls working on oommittee
appolntee's to study a multi-purpose public and sohool library.
He also reported that our mot10n to use the pollce to oolleot
long over-due books has been referred to the Safety Committee
tor their approvalo
M~. Narlock informed the board that the Mayor 1s presently at
work on wage scales for other c1ty employee's based on the
newly negotiated scale for police d1spatchers and 1s call1ng
in department heads for discussion.

Mr. Kreuser announced the school board's approval of uslng the
Denoon School for storage of l1brary out-dated books and books
collected for the Frlends book sale at th~ M\lsk~~ Fair.
Mrs. L1ndhorst requested space in the Muskego City Newsletter
for llbrary hours and library location, Mr. Narlock will in-
quire.

After evaluation of the flrst three sessions of the Tess Corners
school summer library program the board dec1ded to cont1nue the
program for the rema1ning three weeks. Mr. Kangas of the Rec-
reation depart~ent suggested that library personnel conduct a
story hour on a rotating bas1s at all playgrpunds ~ext yearo
Mrs. Lindhorst reported purchase of plastic bags to replaoe can-
vas bags, used for record w1thdrawals, lost or not returned.
Mrs. Lindhorst was advised to urepare a rough draft of the 1970-
1971 budget in two catagories. One. the estimated costs if the
library re~ains in 1ts present quart~rs and the other of est1mated
costs if it moves to another location. She will prepare and send
them to board members in time for them to study it before the
next meet1ng.
Mr. Kreuser moved to adjourn. Mr. Narlock seoonded and motion
carried.
The meeting adjourned at 8,t.56 p.m.
