PRESENT: Mmes. Dibb, Leichtfuss. Mimler~ Modlinskl and Telsl.
Mrs. Lindhorst, librarian, was also present.
Mrs. Lenz, Mr. Kreuser and Mr. O'Connell. ABSENT I
Mrs. Kimier. vice.chairman, opened the meeting at 7:55 P.M.
Mrs. Mod11nsk1 moved to approve the December minutes as published.
Mrs. Dibb seconded and motion carried.
The next board meeting will be held on WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 1970,
1145 P.M. at BAY LANE SCHOOL.
A thank you note from Mrs. Pe1zmann was read. for our gift of a poin-
settia plant. A letter from the WLTA requesting our renewed mem~er-
ship in their organization was read. Mrs. Lindhorst w1ll take care
of rene,wal. .

Mrs. Modllnsk1 moved ~8'1!~ ~aym&fit of bills in the ~unt of
$1.615.09 through December 31, 1969. Mrs. D1bb seconded and motion
carried.
The Treasurer's year-end re~ort for 1969 was accepted and Mrs. Lind-
horst exn1alned the encumbered account No. 580-0451 created to c?ver
payment of books ordered in 1969 but not receiv~d in that year. The
amount of $1, JS8.00 from the 1969 l1brary budg~t was turned bac~ to
the City Treasurer. It was noted that while other deuartments of the
City had cut-backs in their 1970 budget request'~, the library bu'iget
remained intact. .
Mrs. Modllnskl moved to auprove payment of bills in the amount of
$1.135.04 through January 15. Mrs. Teisl seconã~d and motion car~iad.
Mrs. L1ndhorst reported that Mrs. Honl, F.M.L. president, has tW?
teams ready to interview old-ti~e Muskego resid~nts. Members of
the F.M.L. are completing a brochure for student's orientation in
the use of the Muskego public L1brary. Working on the F.M.L.'s re-
q~est for poss1ble project suggestions; Mrs. Lelchtfuss has sug-
gested that the F.M.L. initiate a scholarsh1p fund to train some~ne
1n an elementary course in library reference work or to send a
F.M.L. ~~mber for a course of study in library science aides.
It bas been reported that the Mayor has received Mrs. Bostater's
resignation from the Library Board and Mrs. Sobolewski has been
reoommended for appointment..
The first reading of the proposed book selection policy wasg1ve~
and discussed. The secretary was instructed to include a clause
on hand11ng obscene and smut materials. completed copies are to
be sent to each board member for their suggested corrections or
additions at the February meeting.

Prices of new dls~lay cases were d1scussed and Mrs. Dlbb was asked to
call the Milwaukee public Museum about the possible rental or use of
~ld display cases tor our Civil war collection.
The board decided to submit suggestions for their gift, as listed
on the agenda, to the M.N.E.A. and to ask their consideration as to
the feasibility of investing their gift money until the new librar~
bas been bu1lt and we have a clearer pioture of our needs.
Mrs. staohe, tormer Bay Lane librarian aide, i8 seeking employment. at
the Muskego PUblic Library. Mrs. Lindhorst was instruoted to keer
'the application on file although there are no openings at this tiu"!t.
The policy oommittee submitted the following policy for first read-
ing. -Three absences in one calendar year without prior notificat.ion
to the Chmrman sha~Constitute grounds for recommendation for r~.
moval by /4 vote of he Muskego Common Council-. To be added to the
Muskego brary Boa Polic1es, covering organization and operati~~.
paragraph II titled, Membership.
