The next 11brary board meetlng will be held on NOVEMBER 12. 1969.

Mrs. Llndhorst read a letter received ln regard to the State's peDding
price-flxlng case. They request records of books purchased br the
11brary, trom these publ1shers~ from 1959 to date. She was 84vlsed
to oonsult wlth Mr. Kreuser on the best way to handle this Job.
Mrs. M1mler moved approval of b1l1s ln the a~ount of $1,865.5), Mrs.
Leiohtfuss seconded and mot10n oarried.
Mrs. Lenz announoed the date of OCTOBER 21, 1969, 7:30 P.M., at BAY
LANE SCHOOL for the flrst meeting of the Frlends of the Llbrarl. l~S.
Mlmler will lntroduoe board members and Mrs. HOnl, '.O.L. presldent,
and wl11 also speak on the board's aotlvities and responsibilities.
All board members were requested to attend. Mrs. Lenz and Mrs. Ho~l
wl11 appear on Channel 12'8, -Diallng for Dollars", on ootober 14,
1969 at noon. on behalf of the Friend's nL1brary Enlightenment PuDd".
The next meeting of the Bul1d1ng commlttee will be held on OCTOBER 29.
1969, 7:00 P.M., BAY LANE SCHOOL, at which time, they hope to flna11ze
all four parts of the1r report, "The Need for Improved L1brary Fao111tles8.
Board members examlned the architect's proposed Ðlan for the new 11brary
and were advised to bring any recommended changes to the Building CO:tl-
mittee meeting.
Mrs. Lenz and Mrs. Lindhorst reported on the1r meeting with the Pin~nce
co~mittee about the proposed 1970 budget. No questions were asked and
thel were complimented on the budget presentation. The budget goeE
before the Common Ooanoil on NOVEMBER 3. 1969 at 8:00 P.M.
Mrs. Lenz reported on the conversåtion she had with the Mayor in re~rd
to the Civlc Center. The latest information 1s that the Clty Hall
bu11ding will be bu1lt first. with the 11brElry and pollee departmert
sharing the lower level. The Mayor also re1terated his opposition
to a move. by the library. to the commun1ty Church building.
The W.L.A. convention on October S. 1969 was attended by Mrs. Lenz
and Mrs. Lindhorst. They part1cular1y enjóyed Alex Raley, author
of Malcolm x. who spoke on his travels whil tracing his geneo10gy
from s1ave stock to present day.

"rs. Llndhorst reported that orlentatlon notebooks were on ord.er for
. Dew members. She also lnformed the board that school requests for
groups of books for olassroom use was severly stralnlng the llbrarl~s
resources. It was suggested that she limit the number of books loæ'~d
to the schools ~it will hamper patron's use of them during even1.ng
hours. :::::p:.
~he follcf co~mlttee was 1nstructed to prepare pollcy pertalning to
replacement of board members, notification of a member's reslguatioJ'
and attendance at regularly scheduled meetlngs. They are to submit
their recommendation at the November meetlng for a first reading.
At that time, the board wlll reaffirm their motion, per June 25. 19f9,
that the regular meeting date has been establlshed as the ~
RAI of each month. .
Ira. "imier moved to autho~ize Mrs. Lindhorst to purchase 2 small
deaka from Acct.S80-081 the capital outla1 fund, Mrs. Telsl seconde~
and motlon carrled.
Mrs. Lindhorst announced the gift of 2 hand-carved shlps and unlforned
.,n to th~ library by Mr. and Mrs. Hauk.
Mrs. Mimier announced that the Bay Lane $chool will be dedloated on
Sunday, November 2, 1969 at 2:00 P.M. Senator Devitt wll1 be the
guest speaker. '
Mrs. Lelohtfuss moved to adjourn, Mrs. Tels! seconded and motlon
carried.
