Mr. Kreuser made a motion that tn. minutes of last month's meeting
be aocepted. This motion was seoonded by Mrs. Mimier ancl unanimously
passed by the Board.
The Appropri.tions and Bxpendi tures Report was distributed by Hrs.
Pelzmann - copy of same is attached.
)Irs. Pelzmann thanked Mr. and Mrs. Kapea. for thei:r fine assistance
at the library. The stacks were assembled and books moved. The
library is crowded but Mrs. Sheehan reported that it looks very nice.
Ifr. Kreuserrnade a motion that in the absence of the Chairman and
Vice-Chairman at a Board meeting, the secretary aondnct the m..ting -
in the event of her absence, the treasurer. This will eliminate
any delay in proceeding with a me.ting. Mrs. M1mier seconded the
motion. Mrs. Sheehan called for discussion - there being none,
the motion was voted upon and unanimously carried.
The services offered by the Reference and Loan Library, a Division
of Library Services, Dept. of Public Instruction, Sta.te of Wisconsin,
.ere reViewed by Krs. Pelzmann. She sta ted that m8~ people are
I unaware of the State Library service.
Xrs. Pelzmann asked Mr. Wolf when it will be necessary to have our
library budget completed. He advised that a goal is being set tor
October and November with public hearings to be scheduled at that tlmt.
A family in our area has many overdue books (some of which presumably
were lost or damaged in a fi.re). Mrs. Pelzmann has attempted to con-
I tact the family 'but to no avail. The replaoeent price of the d8Jl81M'
books is approximately '17, and tne amount due o.n books borrowed more
reoentl)'" is about '15'. There are many p:roblems involved in this case
so Mr. Wolf suggested that rathe.r than take legal action for the
amount due, Mrs. Pelzmann try to obtain an inventory of the books
tnat are missing or damaged and it might be :possible to recover an
amount from the insurance covering the c1.ty hall property. Mrs.
Pelsmann will also try again to locate the present address of the
I family arid if she does, will have a messenge.r pick up the library
books. This actton was approved by the library board members.
Mrs. Pelzmann requested that the heating efficiency be checked in
the library before the cold weather sets in. The outside walls are
all cement making the library ve:ry cold, dra:fty, and uncomfortable
in severe wi,nter weather. A. space heater or eleetric heater with a
fan might solve the problem temporarily. Mr. Wolf offered to look
"the situation over with 'the Public Works Committee to see what can
