Muskego City Library Board Meeting April 28, 1965

First order of business was the reading of the minutes of our
last meeting. Mr. Kreuser moved that that the minutes be
approved and this was seconded by Mr. Kapelka.
Copies of the Appropriations and Expenditures report were
distr:1.buted and reviewed - copy attached to these minutes.
Mrs. Pelzmann reported that Mrs. Lindhorst left on Friday,
April 23, and tha't Mrs. Jean Luther is taking her place. Mr.
Kapelka made a motion that Mrs. Luther's salary be $1.50 per
hour, this was seconded by Mrs. Mimier and unanimously agreed upon.
The summer library schedule was discussed - Mrs. Repath will be
available for the Tess Corners Library and Mill Valley School
Library wl11 also be open depending on Mr. Faucett's availability.
The hours at Tess Corners School will be 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
on Wednesday afternoons starting on June 14 and runn:1.ngthrough
August 13. For the records .- the summer circulation at Tess
Corners has been approximately 1,500 and Mill Valley has had a
circulation of approximately 900 books.
April 25 through May 1 is National Library Week and posters had
been ordered and distributed in Muskego. Book marks were dis-
tributed to children and adult borrowers at the library desk.
Information was forwarded to the :Hub and Tri-Town.
Mrs. Pelzmann reported he:r intention to attend the Southeast
Wisconsin Library Association meeting on Friday, May 7, and asked
Library Board members to accompany her if possible. Mrs. Leicht-
fuss and Mrs. Sheehan were planning on going. Mrs. Pelzmann read
the agenda pointing out that the main topic is "Potential for
State and National Library development", which, of course, is of
great concern to our area.
Mrs. Hutchinson, who has been a very faithful library volunteer
worke:r, will not be available for some t:ime. Mrs. Pelzmann will
contact other members of Muskego Women's Club and it was
suggested that possibly a high school student cmld help during
the summe:r months.
There were 13 to 15 registrants for the Friday story hour with an
attendance of 11. The children enjoyed the afternoon.
Mr. Kreuser questioned the terms of sale on the invoice from
Baker and Taylor. Mrs. Pelzmann explained that the 33-1/3~

Bills :1.n the amount of $1,226.05 were reviewed and Mr. Kreuser
moved for approval of their payment - this motion was seconded
by Mr. Kapelka.
Mr. Wolf advised that he has not as yet had a chance to d1.s-
cuss the matter of the fine money with the City Auditor but
the concensus was that they should be tabulated.
!4rs. Sheehan and Mr. Wolf reported on the discuss1.on at the
meeting of the United Fund. It was felt that we should become
a part of the United Fund in MilwaukeeCounty as our a:rea would
benefit in many respects.
It was suggested that we send a letter to Mayor Gottfried ad-
vising of our approval as ind:1.vidua.ls but not as the Library
Board as a whole. A copy of .the letter forwarded to the Mayor
is attached hereto.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned with our
next meeting scheduled for May 26 at 7:30 P.M. at Tess Corners
School.
