Eva ~olh.ch, board s~cre'tary, who took the step because of the uncertain hours req~red by her new Job. .She would not be certain of attending regular board mteet~ngs at any d?te or t~me of day. }frs. Also reported that of the $1490.39 balance at ~ the end of the bud- get year :iæ: on March 31, $964.74 had been encumbered for books, suppplies and equipment with the cash balance of $525.65 reserved largely for salaries until orders could be drawn upon the new budget by the tOvill clerk under a newly established procedure replacing the separate libBary board account. From the library boardts budget item of $9500 for 1962.,.63 there is presently a balance of $4373.77, enough to see us through the remainder of the year according t to plans. }~s. P. also reported that }~. Heiden has brought in the 3 long overdue beoks, for which he has been reimbursed ~Þ2.00 from petty cash. . The book return bo.X is working out well; the MOnday afternoon opening is not getting a lot of play because it has not been widely publicized. However, ~æs. Lindhorst is mn duty then and is able to get a lot of work done during that time as well as to. keep the desk operating. By concurrence we will maintain those hours (1-4 p.m.) indefinitely and see how it develops. A book list will be ready soo.n and the hours of business will be stated on it. It was further agreed that in a forthcondng school newsletter the library board will offer to have its book return box serve as a return point for long overdue books from school librari'es (expecially the high schoo.l library). If books vlhich have been" spiri ted away" from their home are returned, noqu,stions will be asked about their having been missing{out of sheer gratitude f~getting them back) The (temporary) secretary was asked to wtite the high school art department and to the grade school art teachers to offer them the facilities~the library for display purposes~ providing they arrange with Mrs. P. fo.r schedUled time. The library should get a newsletter out so.on, possible to. reach the mails just before the third week in November. Items Sh01.ù.d include the art displays, suggestions of book gifts to the library, news of our hopeS-for book fair, etc. Bills in the æno.unt o.f $1763.36 were appro.ved and o.rdered paid; 1fr. K moved, Mrs. M seconded. Swgestions of names to. give to the town board fo.r a replacement for Mrs. pollich included Hrs. Leichtfus, Mrs. De Back and Hrs. Weaver-Wo.zniak. Hore names also arose in connection with the contemplated "Friends of the LibmQ"Y'" They were Mr. McHugh, Mr. Tellcamp, 14rs. Bieler and Mrs. E. Schmid.
