FM20070109 CITY OF MUSKEGO Approved FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES Audio Recording Available Tuesday, January 9, 2007 Muskego City Hall, Aldermen’s Room Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. In attendance were Committee Members Ald. Salentine, Madden and Borgman, City Administrator Sheiffer, Deputy Clerk Blenski, and those per the attached sheet. Ald. Schaefer arrived at approximately 6:06 PM. Those present recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The Deputy Clerk noted that the meeting was posted in accordance with the Open Meeting Law on January 5, 2007. REVIEW OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING Ald. Salentine moved to approve the minutes of the December 12, 2006 meeting. Ald. Madden seconded; motion carried. LICENSE APPROVALS Ald. Madden moved to recommend approval of a Temporary Operator’s License for Matthew Anderson for February 18, 2007. Ald. Borgman seconded; motion carried. Mr. Anderson was also present for review of a Temporary “Class B”/Class “B” license for Special Olympics for the annual Polar Plunge scheduled for February 18, 2007 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This year the event will be held at the County Park. Mr. Anderson will work with law enforcement authorities to ensure no one underage will be served; wristbands will be used for identification of those individuals who can be served. Ald. Salentine moved to recommend approval of a Temporary “Class B”/Class “B” License for Special Olympics for February 18, 2007. Ald. Madden seconded; motion carried. Ald. Salentine moved to approve renewal of 2007 Dog Fancier Licenses for Ryback, Schachner, Hassmann, Brzezinski, Geske, Reher and Schwabenlender. Seconded by Ald. Madden; motion carried. PERIODIC LICENSE REVIEW Periodic reviews for Kevin Dobson, Susan Sankey, Karla Docter and Shawn Weltzin revealed no new violations since the last reports. NEW BUSINESS Approval of Funding for Muskego Senior Focus Committee Mr. Jim Nichols of the Taxi Subcommittee (Muskego Senior Focus Committee) was present. The results of a survey done by the Muskego Senior Focus Committee demonstrated the interest in a taxi service for seniors. Other communities have senior taxi Finance Committee Meeting January 9, 2007 - Page 2 services that are being utilized. Approximately $7,500 in funding has been set aside by Waukesha County for start up costs. Muskego Regency will house the vehicle and provide dispatch office space. The $750 that is being requested is to file documentation with the Internal Revenue Service for 501c3 status. The subcommittee does have several professional people within the community that have offered their assistance. Service is anticipated to begin in 2008. Ald. Salentine said she would encourage the entire Council to support this effort. Mr. Nichols noted that there is a great need for this service in Muskego. Ald. Salentine moved to approve the expenditure of $750 to be used for the 501c3 filing costs. Ald. Madden seconded; motion carried. Recommend Approval of Revised Position Description for City Engineer/Director of Public Works Projects City Administrator Sheiffer explained that some minor changes were requested by Scott Kloskowski and Wayne Delikat. Some of the language that is proposed to be stricken is because it is redundant. The changes are being proposed to clarify the roles of personnel. The new position will not have an operation and maintenance role in the Utility and Public Works Departments. Ald Salentine moved to recommend approval. Ald. Borgman seconded; motion carried. Recommend Approval of Agreement Between the City of Muskego and Waukesha County Department of Senior Services - Nutrition Program This is the agreement for 2007 and the language is the same as in previous years. Ald. Salentine moved to recommend approval. Ald. Borgman seconded; motion carried. VOUCHER APPROVAL Ald. Madden moved to recommend approval of General Vouchers in the amount of $187,720.42, Utility Vouchers in the amount of $31,915.42 and Tax Checks in the amount of $80,777.31. Ald. Salentine seconded; motion carried. CITY ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT Ms. Sheiffer gave an update on the resources to be used for the advertisement of the City Engineer/Director of Public Works Projects position. ADJOURNMENT Ald.
