FINANCE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD TUESDAY, March 10, 1998
The meeting was called to order at 7:04 P.M. by Mayor De Angelis. Committee members
Salentine, Sanders and D’Acquisto were present. Also present were Aldermen Woodard and
Slocomb, Clerk-Treas. Marenda and those per the attached list.
The Mayor noted the meeting was noticed in accordance with the Open Meeting Law on March
6, 1998.
The minutes of the previous meeting of February 18 were reviewed and accepted.
LICENSE REVIEW
Committee reviewed application for Operator’s License for Brian Shanklin. An attorney opinion
had been requested because of an incident at the establishment he owns but does not hold
the license for. Mayor reported the city attorney advised that incident is not germane to the
issue of his application for an operator’s license, and it appears there are no outstanding
issues as relates to his obtaining a license; but, that does not preclude the committee from the
same latitude as with other applicants to impose 3, 6, 9 and 12 month reviews, or any other
conditions. Ald. Salentine moved to grant an operator’s license to Brian Shanklin with 3,
6, 9 and 12 month reviews. Ald. Sanders seconded. At time of review, a police report will
be obtained and if anything shows up, Mr. Shanklin will be sent a letter asking him to appear
before the Finance Committee. Motion carried 2-0, with Ald. D’Acquisto abstaining due to
conflicts he may have.
NEW BUSINESS
Review request for advance to the Big Muskego Lake/Bass Bay Protection and Rehabilitation
District. Kristy Rogers appeared before the committee. She advised the alum treatment
projected cost is $46,000. The Big Muskego Lake District has the necessary funds tied up in a
CD which matures in June. She requested an advance of $50,000 until reimbursement from
the DNR is received or the CD matures, with interest at 5.3% to be repaid no later than June
30, 1998. Ald. Sanders moved to recommend approval per proposed Resolution #33-98.
Ald. Salentine seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
VOUCHER APPROVAL Ald. D’Acquisto moved to recommend approval of General
Vouchers in amount of $465,546.50, Tax Checks in amount of $256.04 and Utility
Vouchers in amount of $33,609.36. Ald. Sanders seconded, carried 3-0.
RELEASE OF FUNDS
Lakewood Meadows - Mayor reported issues discussed at last meeting are still not resolved.
ADJOURNMENT
Ald. Salentine moved to adjourn at 7:15 p.m. Ald. D’Acquisto seconded, motion carried.
