FM112597 FINANCE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 1997 The meeting was called to order at 7:06 p.m. by Mayor De Angelis with Committee members Salentine, and Sanders present. Also present were Alderman Slocomb, Finance Director Gunderson, Plan Director Sadowski, and Deputy Clerk Blenski. Committee member D’Acquisto was not present. The Mayor noted the meeting was noticed in accordance with the open meeting law. New Business The committee reviewed the 1997 engagement letter from Conley McDonald with Finance Director Dawn Gunderson. She noted that the fees to be charged for audit services for the year ending December 31, 1997 will not increase due to the fact that the City has a Finance Director. It is anticipated that they will be reduced in future years. Ms. Gunderson noted that the City is only billed for hours the firm works. She does not expect the cost of the 1997 audit to decrease because of the resignation of an employee in her department who played a key role in assisting the auditors. Alderman Salentine moved to recommend approval. Alderman Sanders seconded, carried. Mayor De Angelis explained why it was necessary to hire independent counsel to represent the City regarding the reopening of citations issued to Mr. Lloyd McIndoe. Alderman Sanders moved to recommend the appointment of Attorney Joseph Kershek as special counsel at an hourly rate of $100. Alderman Salentine seconded, carried. Release of Funds Alderman Salentine moved to approve release of $2,000 for AG Industries/Mick with $1,000 being retained pursuant to recommendation of the Plan Department. Alderman Sanders seconded, carried. Release for Boldt Development was removed from consideration. Alderman Salentine moved to approve release in the amount of $256,862.52 which includes additional funds for engineering bills. This release has been approved by Ruekert & Mielke and City staff. Alderman Sanders seconded, carried. Voucher Approval Alderman Salentine moved for approval of General Fund vouchers in the amount of $658,033.45 and Utility Vouchers in the amount of $1,042,664.73. Alderman Sanders seconded, motion carried. Finance Committee Minutes Page 2 November 25, 1997 Finance Director’s Report Dawn Gunderson stated it will be necessary to redistribute the work of her department due to the resignation of an employee. There are many year-end tasks that must be accomplished. She will be requesting an increase in hours for several part-time employees and is soliciting the committee’s support. The members of the Finance Committee did not express any opposition. Adjournment Alderman Sanders moved to adjourn at 7:28 p.m. Seconded by Alderman Salentine motion carried.
