MEMORANDUM
TO: Finance Committee
cc: Mayor DeAngelis Jean Marenda, City Clerk
FROM: Matt Sadowski, Director of Planning
DATE: October 4, 1995
RE: 1996 Budget - Fee Study
***********************x****************~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~*
In response to the Finance Committee's concerns regarding the
ability of the Planning Department to generate revenue to offset
the cost of the department, an examination was made of Department fee structures.
Fees charged for zoning reviews in relation to the Assistant
Planner's position were not increased as such fees are new for
1995 and are in line with costs.
As suggested, zoning permit fees for signs were reviewed; an equitable rate was determined to be $20.00. At present, no fee
is charged.
All other zoning fees were reviewed and the following is a
listing of only those for which current fees do not cover
current costs:
Current Fee Current Cost
Board of Appeals $80.00 $135.00
P.U.D.s $250.00 $260.00
Plan Commission review fees were reviewed and the following
listing is only those for which current fees do not cover
current costs:
Minimum Review Fee
(first) Site Plan
Truck Park
l 2nd Garage
Current Fee Current Cost
$10.00 $36.00
$25.00 $36.00
ing $35.00 $41.00
$25.00 $28.00
Fees charged in relation to land division or letters, of credit were not increased as increases went in effect in 1994 & 95 and
appear to be in line with costs.
If the above fees were revised for 1996, it is estimated that
proposed revenue would increase from $27,220 to $30,805 or an
increase of $3,585.00 (13% increase). Increase over estimated 1995 would be 3%.
