MINUTES OF MEETING HELD JULY 16, 1980
me meeting-was called to order by Chairman Gottfried at 7:35 P.M. A1
present were-kommittee members Weed and Radtke and Police Chi'ef Scholz
The following persons appeared to apply for Operator's Licenses:

I ,. Aid. Weed moved to recommend approval of Operator's Licenses for the
above listed persons. Seconded by Ald. Radtke.Motion carried.
Aid. Weed moved to recommend approval of a Gathering Permit for St.
Leonard's Church for July 26 and 27, 1980. Seconded by Ald. Radtke.

Police ~Chief'Scholz appeared at the meeting to discuss the following
- qualifications for new police officers: -~

Two years of post-secondary education at an accredited
institution (60 credit hours), majoring in police science
or related field. United States citizen. Possess a valid
Wisconsin driver's license at time of hiring; good moral
character; shall not have been convicted of, nor have
weight.and height proportional and meet the required
pending, any felony charges. Good physical condition,
psychological stanqards.
A comunication listing such qualifications will be forwarded~to the
City Attorney for review and will he recommended to the Common Council
for approval subject to that review.
Mayor Gottfried advised the committee that the Governor has ordered
a reduction in all expenditures by the State of Wisconsin. As a
result ef that directive the city's State Aids will he reduced by
approximately 4%. Mayor Gottfried further indicated that he has
therefore directed all department heads to advise him how their 1980
budget can he reduced by 4% within two weeks.
The Committee met with members of the Muskego Historical Society and
Countryside Players (Fine Arts Inc.) to discuss the lease for the old
city hall and other matters pertaining to their organizations. The
Historical Society presented a communication to the members of the
committee highlighting the history of the organizations, their efforts
and achievements. It also requested consideration by the city to
include the organization in their liability policies and that the
1981 budget consider payment of sewer utility bills, partial payment
of electric bill and a grant of $800.00 to cover the cost of filing
cabinets, display cases, card files and record books. Following
discussion regarding the above matters, Ald. Radtke moved to authorize
Mayor Gottfried to contact the city's insurance carrier to determine
whether or not the old city hall and Bicentennial Park could be includ
in the city's liability coverage and the cost of same. Mayor Gottfrie

Ald. Weed moved to amend the minutes of the previous meeting held
July?, 1980 to include paragraphs relating to a request for funds
for fireworks at the Funfest activities and refunds in sewer usage
fees to Thomas Jewelers and Doggie Botique. Seconded by Ald. Radtke.

Ald. Knudsen appeared at the meering to discuss the former Lassa
property now owned by .the city. "
Ald. Knudsen also.discussed with the committee the possibility of
changing the format 0.f the voucher lists provided the aldermen.
Following discussion on the matter the committee authorized Ald.
Knudsen to discuss the.possible .. changes with SEWWC.
Ald, Radtke moved to adjourn. Seconded by Ald. Weed. Motion carried.
The meeting adjourned.
