FCM197708030 * 0 0 FINANCE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEG0 MINUTES OF MEETING HELD AUGUST 3, 1977 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Gottfried at 7:30 P.M. Also present were. committee members Dumke and Schaumberg and Lt. Zabel. Nr. John Kannard appeared to apply for an Operators License. Ald. Dumke moved to recommend Council approval, seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion carried. Ald. Dumke moved to recommend Council approval of a "Gathering" Permit for VFW Country Fair Days for August 26, 27 and 28, 1977. Seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion carried. Lt. Zabel appeared at the meeting to ask that he be notified of any "Gathering" Permits granted by the Common Council for a public function in the city in order that he can properly schedule his officers. Mr. Steve Pischke, Director of Parks and Recreation, appeared at the meeting to request permission to purchase 250 railroad ties which will be used in building a bulkhead in certain areas of Idle Isle. He indicated the total cost would be $1,225.00, a considerable savings to the city and that money is available in their capital budget account. Ald. Schaumberg moved to grant the request. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried. plans to purchase stacking chairs for the new basement meeting room. Supply Clerk Bette Bowyer appeared at the meeting to discuss with the committee houses will be contacted and will be requested to bring in samples. Mrs. Bowyer once again requested zhat consideration be given to opening city hall during the lunch hour and that the city hall hours be changed to 8.00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Lt. Zabel discussed with the,committee the pending grievance submitted by the MPPA. Ald. Schaumberg moved to recommend the Council deny the griev- ance. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, morion carried. A communication from the Teamsters Union advising that there will be an placed on file. increase of $2.00 per month in dues, effective 10/1/77 was received and A request for payment for damages sustained on his boat was received from Gerald Warda, Water Patrolman, in the amount of $41.04 was reviewed. The committee noted that water patrolmen are paid a salary of $600.00 per season plus $400.00 for maintenance of their boat. Ald. Dumke moved to deny the request, seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion carried. Ald. Schaumberg moved to recommend Council approval of an agreement between IBM Corporation and the city for maintenance for a new typewriter in the Building Inspection Department in the amount of $65.00 for a one year period. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried. The committee reviewed at length the plans of the Bicentennial Committee to the new police building. The (!hairman of the Bicentennial Committee for a storage shed to be constructed in the Bicentennial Park adjacent has requested that $3,000.00 be provided for lumber and material. In +- reviewing the matter the committee felt that because the Bicentennial Park is located on the civic center site and is adjacent to the police building the location and construction of the storage shed and its affect moved to have the Park and Recreation Board review the plans and indicate on the esthetics of the area must be carefully reviewed.
