FCM19761118FINANCE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEG0 MINUTES OF MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 18, 1976 The meeting was called to order by Mavor Gottfried at 7:30 P.M. Also present were Aldermen Schaumberg, Colbum-and Dumke and Police Chief Kraus. The following persons appeared to apply for Operators License: Harry Salla Isabelle Abels Mat thew Fel ton Ald. Colburn moved to recommend Council approval of Operators Licenses for the above listed applicants. Seconded by Ald. Schaum- berg, motion carried. Ald. Colburn moved to recommend Counci.1 approval of a “Gathering” License for St. Leonard’s Home and School Association for December 31st, 1976. Seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion carried. Mr. Steve Pischke, Park and Recreation Director, appeared at the meeting to discuss with the committee a suggested salary schedule for his department. Police Chief Kraus appeared to request permission to advertise for bids the purchase of new squad cars. Mr. Paul DeAngelis, Assessor for the City of Muskego, appeared to discuss with the committee his proposed salary for 1977. Mr. Fred Merkt, former employee of the Public Works Department, appeared to discuss with the committee his claim that he has not received all the vacation pay due him. Mrs. Betty Teisel and Mrs. Joan Dibb, representing the Library Board, appeared to discuss the 1977 salary for the City Librarian. Ald. Schaumberg moved to recommend to the Common Council the proposed salary changes, Seconded by Ald, Dumke, motion carried. The committee reviewed the proposed 1977 salaries for non-represented employees. They discussed at length the salary of the Mayor, Clerk, Treasurer and Assessor, noting that they were well below the average as indicated in the survey provided by the Milwaukee Area Municipal Employer’s Association. Ald. Colburn moved to recommend to the Common Council authorization for the bidding of five new squad cars.’ Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried. The committee noted the problems being experienced by the Supt. of Public works^ because of a number of employees who are-either sick or unavailable for work. The committee wishes to strongly recommend that the Public Works Committee begin the procedure to replace personnel not likely to return to work or to find temporary replacements. 11/18/76 Page 2. Finance Committee The committee reviewed a notice from the County Treasurer that the following parcels of land are available: Lot 4 Blk 19, Jewel Crest Subdivision $1,401.60 Tax Key jl2174.166 Lot 7 First Add. to Krogman's Sub. 1,024.55 Tax Key #2193.051 Ald. Colburn moved, seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, to recommend to the Common Council that the parcels be purchased for back taxes. Motion carried. The committee reviewed a communication from Employer's Insurance of Wausau indicating that the insurance costs for 1977 would not appreciably change from 1976. The communication also indicated that the city had saved $19,521.00 as a result of the change of carrier from Sentry to Employers Insurance of Wausau. Ald. Colburn moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald.
