MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MAY 6, 1976
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gottfried at 7:15 P.M.
Also present were Committee members Schaumberg, Colburn and
Dumlce and Ald. Constantineau.
Mr. Mark Krause appeared to apply for Operators License. Ald.
Schaumberg moved to recommend approval of same for Mark Kraus
subject to receipt of favorable Fingerprint Report. Seconded
by Ald. Colburn, motion carried.
Several members of the Muskego High School Choir Booster Club
appeared before the committee and requested a contribution
towards the planned appearance of the choir in Washington, D. C.
in June. Mr. Zunk, acting as a spoksman for the group, advised
the committee that 69 students will be making the trip at a
cost of $12,000.00, all chaperones will be paying their own
way, they have raised $10,000.00 thus far and they still have
three projects which they hope will generate additional funds.
Ald. Schaumberg moved to recommend to the Common Council that
$500.00 be contributed towards the trip. Seconded by Ald.
Colburn. motion carried. 0 The bid from Community Newspapers for the city's official
newspaper was reviewed. Ald. Schaumberg moved to recommend
acceptance of the bid. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried.
Because of the increase in cost in publications the conunittee
discussed the possibility of condensing the Council proceedings
for publication in the official newspaper. The matter will be
discussed at a future meeting in order to give other aldermen
an opportunity to discuss the matter with the conunittee.
Correspondence from the Assessor's office was reviewed. Mr.
DeAngelis pointed out that Mr. Frank Switala, Tax Key il2217.948,
was assessed for a building which had been removed prior to
May 1, 1975. He also pointed out that Mr. Switala had paid
the entire tax and had $180.50 refund coming. Ald. Schaumberg
moved to recommend approval of the refund. Seconded by Ald.
Colburn, motion carried.
Communication from the City Treasurer was received advising the
committee that due to an error by the computer a lot owned by
Paul Waldoch was over assessed. She pointed out that the
assessment on the lot was actually reduced, however, the
computer added the amount instead of deducting it from the
original assessment. Therefore, a payment in the amount of
$99.37 is due to the county. Ald. Schaumberg moved to authorize
the necessary payment to Waukesha County. Seconded by Ald.
Colburn, motion carried.
Ald. Colburn requested that consideration be given to presenting
the minutes of the Park and Recreation Board to the Council as
are the minutes of the Plan Commission.

A communication from the State of Wisconsin was received
advising the city of an additional payment of $6,773.00
due the city from the 1975 municipal and county shared
tax account.
The need for a cork bulletin board in the lobby of city
hall was discussed. Ald. Colburn moved to authorize the
purchase of same, seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried.
The committee once again discussed the insurance coverage
for waterpatrolmen. Ald. Colburn moved to advise the Chief
of Police that all waterpatrolmen working for the city
must have liability insurance with limits of not less than
$300,000.00 and a homeowners with a boat and motor floater
policy. The waterpatrolmen will be required to show proof
of insurance before they begin their duties each year. The
city will pay $100.00 to each patrolman to cover a part of
the cost of the required insurance. Motion was seconded
0 by Ald. Dumke and carried.
Ald. Colburn moved to authorize the Clerk to pay the bill
in the amount of $184.38 to Muskego Marine for- repairs to
the boat of Walter Singsheim. Seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion
carried. It was noted by the committee that Mr. Singsheim's
boat was sunk by unknown parties and heavily damaged and that
a lieutenant from the Muskego Police Department directed Mr.
Singsheim to have the boat repaired immediately.
The committee again reviewed the request by several members of
the Board of Appeals for remuneration to cover part of their
travel expense in reviewing appeals or a per diem payment. The
comnittee will discuss the matter with the other aldermen and
make a decision at the next meeting.
Ald. Colburn moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. Dumke, motion
carried. The meeting adjourned at 9:03 P.M.
