MINUTES OF MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 3, 1973
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Chairman Gottfried. Also
present were Aldermen Schaumberg, Foldy and Dumke and Police Chief Kraus.
Mrs. Lee Toebe, 405 N. Calhoun Rd,., Brookfield, Wisconsin, appeared to
apply for an Operator's License. Ald. Dumke moved to recommend Council
wproval of an Operator's License for Mrs. Lee Toebe, subject to receipt
@E: favorable fingerprint report. Seconded by Ald. Schaumberg, motion

carried.
Mr. .De a'n Kaczkowski, representing the Muskego Jaycee@, appeared
regarding their request for financial aid from the city in'the amount
of $400.00 towards the Spookfest activities. He also reiterated the
feeling of the Jaycees that if the Spookfest is to be euacessft!l any trick
or treat activities encouraged by the city should be the same hours chat
the Spookfest is held. The prpgram planned is for Gunday, October 26,
1975, between the hours of 3:OO P.M. and 6:OO P.M. Mr. Kqcakowski agreed
to try to contact as many parents as possible to determine their wishes
regarding trick or treat activities other than the Spookfest.
PoTice Chief Kraus appeared to discues with the committee the need to hire
an officer to fill the vacancy Greated by the dismissal of Michael Wilcox. 0 Other alternatives other than the hiring of another officer were discussed.
Chief Krqus advised the committee thqt the reduction in vanpower has
required a great amount of overtime. Ald. Poldy moved, seconded by Ald.
Dumke, to authorize Chief Kraus to hire an officer to replace Michael
Wilcox. Motion carried.
A claim was received from Mrs. Esther Zenecke in the amount of $558.30
for expenses incurred as a result of her child swimming on city land (sewer
lagoon on McShane Road). Claim forwarded co city attorney and the city's
insuraqce carrier.
A comunication was received from Employers Insurance of qausay regarding
the possibility of permanent disability from Mr. Bernard Smigelski gs a
result of an injury on the job. The insurance company indicated that
although a disability final report has not been receivsd paymqnt in the
amount of $229.67 toward that disabilify is being paid.
Ald. Schaumberg moved to authorize the City Clerk to offer for sale
four voting machines to the highegt bidder over $700.00. Seconded by Ald.
Durnke, motioq carried.
The committee considered the request of the Library for funds to purchase
tie bars to anchor book shelves to eliminate a possible hazard. Ald. Foldy 0 moved tp approve said request in the amovnt of $220.00, Seconded by Ald.
Dumke, motion carried.
Ald. Foldy requested the Finance Committee to provide $1800.00 to the Park
Board to provide a planting screen along three of the lots in Schmidt
Park adjacent to the playground area. No action was taken.
A communication was received from the State indicating the city has
geceived $82,462.44 in Highway Aids.
The committee reviewed the request of the Muskego Fine Arts and Historical
Society for funds to help move and restore several farm buildings which
would be part of the bicentennial program for the city. Ald. Foldy moved
pending an agreement as to where the buildings wtll be erected. Seyonded
by Ald. Schaumberg, motion carried.

Ald. Foldy was unanimously elected as the Financ
on the Negotiating Committee.

The committee reviewed the request of Ray Footland for an increase in
salary equal to the amount of money presently being paid into the city's
retirement fund for other employees. Since Mr. Footland is over age 55
he is not eligible for membership in the retirement program. Ald. Schaum-
berg moved to deny the request. Seconded by Ald. Durnke, motion,carr$ed.
The conunittee considered the request of the Park and Recreation Board
for an assistant to aid the park superintendent. Action was deferred
until a job description can be acquired from the Park and Kecreation
Board.
The need for parttime secretarial help in the Building Inspection
Department was discussed. Ald. Foldy moved to recommend Council approval
of the creation of a parttime clerk (19 hours) in the Building Inspection
Department, said position to be financed under the CETA Program. Sec-
onded by Ald. Dumke, motion carried.
Ald. Schaumberg moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. Foldy, motiqn carried.
The meeting adjourned at 10:15 P.M.
