FCM19660316FINANCE COMMITTEE - CITY OF MUSKEGO MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MARCH 16, 1966 Aldermen Bostater, Budish and Wolf in attendance. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Gottfried at 7:30 P.M. with The minutes from the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. The first order of business was the application of Fred Kenda of S76 W18219 Janesville Road for a Class B Fermented Malt Liquor License. The application is for the operation of the tavern previously operated applied to this Committee on October 6, 1965, for a Bartender's License by Mr. Francis Schofer, whose license was recently revoked. Mr. Kenda and same was issued to him. Mr. Kenda indicated that he felt this able place out of it. He has seven children the oldest of which is location had great potential and that he would like to make a respect- 18 years of age, but indicated that he did not want any of the children working in the tavern but since the premises also include a restaurant, his wife will be operating this and probably have the children help there. Mr. Robert Draskovich, the Weed Commissioner, appeared before this Committee to discuss several complaints the City has received relative to the cutting of w eds during the last year. The letter from Melford Foth was review herein Mr. Foth stated that only the center of the lot had been cut when the rest of the lot had been just as bad. Mr. Draskovich indicated that it was illogical for him to cut the center of the lot and leave the outside because you usually start on the outside and work your way to the center. He because it was too wet but did return and complete the whole lot. stated that he did cut a portion of it and then left the remaining There were also complaints from Mm. Leonard Kochnoivicz and Mrs. C. LaPorte, b3 upon review there was no evidence that would warrant any return of the weed cutting fee. The vouchers that are payable to the period up to and including March 22, 1966, were reviewed. These total $9,318.78. Alderman payment of vouchers in the amount of $9,318.78. This was seconded Bostater moved to recommend that the Common Council approve the by Alderman Budish and the motion carried. A bill that had been received since the voucher list was prepared, was reviewed. This was from the Merkel Electric Company for the repair of underground wires on McShane Road for the amount of $28.00. It was explained by Alderman %dish that these wires were severed when McShane Road was widened and repaired. Alderman Budish moved to recommend that the Common Council approve this bill which was^ -~ seconded by Alderman Wolf and the motion carried. Our investment program was discussed and again it will be investigated rather than Bank Certificates of Deposit. if a greater return can be realized from interest from Treasury Notee me application of Mr. Fred Kenda wag discussed. Alderman Budish moved to recommend that the Common Eouncil approve issuance of a Class B Fermented Malt Be%r_Zlg&i Liquor License to Mr. Fred Kenda for the operation of the tavern at the southeast corner of Racine Avenue and Highway 24 known as the Corner House. Motion was seconded by Alderman Wolf and the motion carried. Additional bids were received from Guthrie and Lyon, Inc. and from Allen.Pump-Ser.vice-f.or..ins.tallation-of~ .a new .pump and storage^ water" -_ - need and submit their proposal. Each have come up with a different: tank. Each of these organizations have been allowed to analyze our recommendation. Therefore, the Committee will set the standards after requesting the Highway Superintendent to check the depth of the well and determine at what pressure the system should operate.
