Ordinance #1420 - An Ordinance to Amend Chapter 263.4 of the City of Muskego
Municipal Code (Fireworks). Second Reading.
Alderperson Madden made a motion to approve. Alderperson Kubacki seconded.
Mayor Chiaverotti stated the Ordinance was written based on the recommendations made
by the Committee of the Whole. An individual applicant would choose one date from the
days outlined in the Code with the next calendar day allowed in the event weather affected
the discharge of fireworks. The exception is if the applicant chooses the last available date,
the permit will expire that day. A few additional changes are being proposed. She did note
that while many residents enjoy fireworks, there are those that experience problems. The
City does receive complaints. Several Alderpersons discussed going back to the number of
days currently allowed. Police Chief Rens stated he suggested the one day (with a possible
rain date) as a compromise for those individuals who are not in favor of hearing fireworks
discharged for three or four days. Alderperson Wolfe made a motion to amend the
Ordinance as presented and retain the number of days for the discharge of fireworks
currently allowed in the Code. Alderperson Kapusta seconded; motion carried.
