COMMON COUNCIL Minutes 20110419-Org. COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEGO Approved: 04/26/2011 MINUTES OF ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING HELD APRIL 19, 2011 The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Mayor Johnson. Present were Ald. Fiedler, Schaumberg, Soltysiak, Werner, Borgman, Harenda and Snead, and Deputy Clerk Blenski. Those present recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The Deputy noted that the meeting was noticed in accordance with the open meeting law. NEW BUSINESS Mayor John Johnson presented comments as the outgoing Mayor. The Honorable Judge Mark Gundrum administered the oath of office to: Kathy Chiaverotti Mayor Kert Harenda Alderman District 2 Keith Werner Alderman District 4 Neome Schaumberg Alderman District 6 Noah Fiedler Alderman District 7 A Certificate of Election was given to each elected official. John Johnson relinquished the Chair to Mayor Chiaverotti. Judge Gundrum congratulated the officials on their election to office and spoke briefly. Mayor Chiaverotti and Aldermen Harenda, Werner, Schaumberg and Fiedler presented their comments as newly elected officials. Reso. #049-2011 – Expressing Appreciation to John R. Johnson. Ald. Werner moved for adoption. Ald. Fiedler seconded; motion carried. Mayor Chiaverotti presented the resolution to John Johnson. Mr. Johnson thanked the Council members. ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT Mayor noted the person receiving a majority vote of the Council would be the Council President. The following nominations were made: Alderman Borgman Alderman Schaumberg On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast: Alderman Schaumberg 4 Alderman Borgman 3 Mayor Chiaverotti stated that Alderman Schaumberg was elected President of the Common Council. Common Council Organizational Meeting April 19, 2011 Page 2 ELECTION OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO THE PLAN COMMISSION Mayor noted a 2/3 vote (5 votes) was required and ballots needed to be initialed. On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made: Alderman Borgman Alderman Schaumberg On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast: Alderman Borgman 6 Alderman Schaumberg 1 ELECTION OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO LITTLE MUSKEGO LAKE PROTECTION AND REHABILITATION DISTRICT Mayor noted the person receiving a majority vote of the Council would be elected as the Little Muskego Lake representative; ballots must be initialed. On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made: Alderman Harenda Alderman Werner On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast: Alderman Werner 4 Alderman Harenda 3 Alderman Werner was elected to serve as Council representative to the Little Muskego Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District.
