COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING HELD APRIL 17, 2007 Approved
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by Mayor Johnson. Also present were Ald.
Madden, Schaefer, Melcher, Salentine, Borgman, Buckmaster and Snead, City
Administrator Sheiffer, Municipal Judge Berigan, and Deputy Clerk Blenski.
Those present recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The Deputy Clerk noted that the
meeting was noticed in accordance with the open meeting law.
NEW BUSINESS
Ald. Buckmaster presented comments as the outgoing Alderman of District 2. After
serving the Fourth District since 1995, Ald. Salentine offered comments as the outgoing
representative of that district. Ald. Madden presented comments as the outgoing
Alderman of District 7. All expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the
community and extended best wishes to their successors.
Municipal Judge Patrick Berigan administered the oath of office to:
Daniel Pavelko Alderperson District 2
Keith Werner Alderperson District 4
Tina Schaefer Alderperson District 6
Noah Fiedler Alderperson District 7
A Certificate of Election was given to each elected official. Ald. Pavelko, Werner and
Fiedler took their places at the Council table.
Judge Berigan congratulated the officials on their election to office and spoke briefly.
Aldermen Pavelko, Werner, Schaefer and Fiedler presented their comments as newly
elected officials.
Reso. #077-2007 – Expressing Appreciation to Chris Buckmaster. Borgman moved
for adoption. Snead seconded. Motion carried 7-0. Mayor Johnson presented the
resolution to Chris Buckmaster.
Reso. #078-2007 - Expressing Appreciation to Nancy Salentine. Borgman moved for
adoption. Snead seconded. Motion carried 7-0. Mayor Johnson presented the
resolution to Nancy Salentine.
Reso. #079-2007 - Expressing Appreciation to Eileen Madden. Borgman moved for
adoption. Snead seconded. Motion carried 7-0. Mayor Johnson presented the
resolution to Eileen Madden.
ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT
Mayor noted a simple majority vote was needed and ballots did not have to be initialed.

On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made:
Alderman Snead
Alderman Melcher
On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast:
Alderman Snead 3
Alderman Melcher 4
Alderman Melcher was elected President of the Common Council.
ELECTION OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO THE PLAN COMMISSION
Mayor noted a 2/3 vote was required and ballots needed to be initialed.
On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made:
Alderman Pavelko
Alderman Fiedler
On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast:
Alderman Pavelko 2
Alderman Fiedler 5
Alderman Fiedler was elected to serve as Council Representative to the Plan
Commission.
ELECTION OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO LITTLE MUSKEGO LAKE
PROTECTION AND REHABILITATION DISTRICT
The Mayor stated that if possible the Alderman should live in the Lake District. He
noted that a majority vote is required and ballots must be initialed.
On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made:
Alderman Borgman
On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast:
Alderman Borgman 7
Alderman Borgman was elected to serve as Council representative to the Little
Muskego Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District.
COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE MAYOR’S OFFICE
The Mayor proclaimed April 15 - 21, 2007 as National Volunteer Week. The
Proclamation acknowledged the dedicated service of Muskego’s volunteers.

The Mayor announced his committee appointments to the Standing Committees, and
other Boards and Committees.
Reso. #080-2007 - Appointment of Aldermen to Library Board, Parks & Recreation
Board, Conservation Commission and Community Development Authority. Snead
moved for adoption. Melcher seconded. Motion carried 7-0.
Snead moved to adjourn at 8:15 PM. Borgman seconded; motion carried.
