CCM20060824sp COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEGO Approved: 9/12/06 MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING HELD AUGUST 24, 2006 The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Mayor Damaske. Present were Ald. Salentine, Borgman, Buckmaster, Madden, Melcher, and Snead, City Clerk-Treasurer Moyer. Those present recited the Pledge of Allegiance. It was noted that the meeting was noticed in accordance with the open meeting law. NEW BUSINESS The purpose of the special meeting was to meet the individuals who expressed interest in filling the unexpired term of Eric Schroeder, the Alderperson for District 6. The following individuals were present: Tina Schaefer, Michael Serdynski and Dean Bartosh. The Aldermen proceeded to hear the presentations of Tina Schaefer, Michael Serdynski and Dean Bartosh. The Mayor requested that only the candidate making a presentation to the Council be present and that the others wait in the Mucky Room although they were not required to do so. The Aldermen also asked each candidate various questions. Following the presentation/interview portion of each candidate, all were present in the Aldermen’s Room. The Council members expressed their gratitude to the three candidates. Paper ballots were distributed. The Mayor noted that the ballot had to be signed by each Alderman and a vote cast. The Clerk announced the following votes: Tina Schaefer Voted by Ald. Salentine, Borgman, Melcher Dean Bartosh Voted by Ald. Madden, Snead, Buckmaster Discussion ensued about whether or not the Mayor could vote to break the tie. A short recess was called to allow the Clerk-Treasurer time to research the issue. Upon return from recess, the Clerk read various passages from the League of Wisconsin Municipalities’ Handbook for Wisconsin Municipal Officials, which supported the Mayor’s ability to vote. The Mayor stated his vote was for Tina Schaefer. Clerk-Treasurer Moyer administered the Oath of Office to Tina Schaefer as Alderperson of District 6. ADJOURNMENT Ald.
