COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING HELD APRIL 18, 2006 Approved
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Mayor Damaske. Also present were
Ald. Schroeder, Melcher, Salentine, Borgman, Buckmaster, Madden and Patterson, and
Deputy Clerk Blenski.
Those present recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The Deputy Clerk noted that the
meeting was noticed in accordance with the open meeting law.
NEW BUSINESS
Comments were made by Patrick Patterson as outgoing Alderman for District 1. Mr.
Patterson expressed words of gratitude to the constituents of his district, his family, the
other Council members and staff. He stated that it has been a pleasure and honor to
serve District 1 for so many years. Following his statements, Mr. Patterson stepped
down.
Circuit Court Judge Robert Mawdsley administered the oath of office to:
Neil Borgman Alderperson District 3
Bob Melcher Alderperson District 5
Patrick T. Berigan Municipal Judge
A Certificate of Election was given to each elected official.
(Newly elected Alderperson for District 1, Tracy Snead, could not be present and was
sworn in earlier by the Clerk’s Office.)
Judge Mawdsley congratulated the officials on their election to office.
Aldermen Borgman and Melcher and Judge Berigan presented their comments as re-
elected officials.
Reso. #055-2006 – Expressing Appreciation to Patrick A. Patterson. Buckmaster
moved for adoption. Schroeder seconded. Motion carried 6-0. The resolution was
presented to Mr. Patterson by Mayor Damaske.
ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT
On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made:
Alderman Salentine
Alderman Melcher
Alderman Buckmaster
On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast:
Alderman Salentine 5
Alderman Melcher 1

Alderman Salentine was elected President of the Common Council.
ELECTION OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO THE PLAN COMMISSION
On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made:
Alderman Buckmaster
On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast:
Alderman Buckmaster 6
Alderman Buckmaster was elected to serve as Council Representative to the Plan
Commission.
ELECTION OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO LITTLE MUSKEGO LAKE
PROTECTION AND REHABILITATION DISTRICT
On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made:
Alderman Borgman
Alderman Buckmaster
On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast:
Alderman Borgman 6
Alderman Borgman was elected to serve as Council representative to the Little
Muskego Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District.
COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE MAYOR’S OFFICE
The Mayor announced his committee appointments to the Standing Committees, and
other Boards and Committees.
Reso. #056-2006 - Appointment of Aldermen to Library Board, Parks & Recreation
Board, Conservation Commission and Community Development Authority. Buckmaster
moved for adoption. Salentine seconded. Motion carried 6-0.
COMMUNICATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS AS AUTHORIZED BY LAW
Schroeder expressed comments regarding the significance of Ald. Patterson’s long
tenure as the representative of District 1. He commended him for 21 years of service to
the City.
Madden moved to adjourn at 7:32 PM. Salentine seconded; motion carried.
