CCM20040420ORG COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEGO Approved MINUTES OF ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING HELD APRIL 20, 2004 The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Slocomb. Also present were Aldermen Madden, Schroeder, Petfalski, Salentine, Buckmaster, and Patterson, Acting Clerk-Treasurer Blenski and Finance Director Gunderson. Those present recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The Clerk-Treasurer noted that the meeting was noticed in accordance with the open meeting law. NEW BUSINESS Comments were made by Ald. Rick Petfalski who served as the Alderman of District 5 since 2001. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve. Circuit Court Judge Robert Mawdsley administered the oath of office to: Patrick Patterson Alderperson District 1 Neil Borgman Alderperson District 3 Bob Melcher Alderperson District 5 Patrick Berigan Municipal Judge The Clerk-Treasurer presented a Certificate of Election to each newly elected official. Ald. Borgman and Ald. Melcher took their positions at the Council table. Judge Mawdsley congratulated the officials on their election to office, and provided pertinent comments for their role as aldermen. Municipal Judge Berigan and Aldermen Patterson, Borgman and Melcher presented their comments as newly-elected officials. Reso. #068-2004 – Expressing Appreciation to Rick Petfalski. Salentine moved for adoption. Schroeder seconded. Motion carried 6-0. Reso. #069-2004 – Expressing Appreciation to Chuck Damaske. Buckmaster moved for adoption. Patterson seconded. Motion carried 6-0. ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT Mayor noted a simple majority vote was needed and ballots did not need to be initialed. On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made: Alderman Salentine Alderman Schroeder Alderman Patterson On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast: Alderman Salentine 4 Alderman Schroeder 3 Common Council Organizational Meeting April 20, 2004 Page 2 Alderman Salentine was elected President of the Common Council. ELECTION OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO THE PLAN COMMISSION Mayor noted a 2/3 vote was needed and ballots needed to be initialed. On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made: Alderman Buckmaster Alderman Schroeder On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast: Alderman Buckmaster 6 Alderman Schroeder 1 Alderman Buckmaster was elected to serve as Council Representative to the Plan Commission. ELECTION OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO LITTLE MUSKEGO LAKE PROTECTION AND REHABILITATION DISTRICT Mayor noted that if possible the Alderman should live in the District, a majority vote is required and ballots must be initialed. On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made: Alderman Borgman Alderman Schroeder On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast: Alderman Borgman 7 Alderman Borgman was elected to serve as Council representative to the Little Muskego Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District. Alderman Schroeder thanked both Rick Petfalski and Chuck Damaske. He acknowledged the work that Rick did on the Teen Advisory Board and also his leadership as Council President. Ald.
