CCM20030415ORG COMMON COUNCIL - CITY OF MUSKEGO Approved MINUTES OF ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING HELD APRIL 15, 2003 The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m. by Mayor Slocomb. Also present were Aldermen Madden, Schroeder, Petfalski, Salentine, Le Doux, Patterson and Damaske, Clerk-Treasurer Marenda and Planning Director Turk. Those present recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The Clerk-Treasurer noted that the meeting was noticed in accordance with the open meeting law. NEW BUSINESS Comments were made by Ald. Butch Le Doux as outgoing Alderman, District 2 after serving four years. He expressed thanks for the opportunity to serve. Circuit Court Judge Robert Mawdsley administered the oath of office to: Chris Buckmaster Alderperson District 2 Nancy Salentine Alderperson District 4 Eric Schroeder Alderperson District 6 Eileen Madden Alderperson District 7 The Clerk-Treasurer presented a Certificate of Election to each newly elected official. Ald. Buckmaster replaced Ald. Le Doux at the Council table. Judge Mawdsley congratulated the officials on their election to office, and provided pertinent comments for their role as aldermen. Aldermen Buckmaster, Salentine, Schroeder and Madden spoke briefly. Reso. #82-2003 – Expressing Appreciation to Butch Le Doux. Petfalski moved for adoption. Salentine seconded. Motion carried 7-0. ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT Mayor noted a simple majority vote was needed and ballots did not need to be initialed. On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made: Alderman Petfalski Alderman Patterson Alderman Buckmaster Alderman Damaske On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast: Alderman Petfalski 5 Alderman Buckmaster 1 Alderman Patterson 1 Alderman Petfalski was elected President of the Common Council. Common Council Organizational Meeting April 15, 2003 Page 2 ELECTION OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO THE PLAN COMMISSION Mayor noted a 2/3 vote was needed and ballots needed to be initialed. On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made: Alderman Patterson Alderman Salentine Alderman Schroeder Alderman Madden On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast: Alderman Patterson 3 Alderman Madden 2 Alderman Schroeder 2 On the second election ballot, the following votes were cast: Alderman Patterson 2 Alderman Madden 3 Alderman Schroeder 1 Alderman Salentine 1 On the third election ballot, the following votes were cast: Alderman Patterson 1 Alderman Madden 5 Alderman Schroeder 1 Alderman Madden was elected to serve as Council Representative to the Plan Commission. ELECTION OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO LITTLE MUSKEGO LAKE PROTECTION AND REHABILITATION DISTRICT Mayor noted that if possible the Alderman should live in the District, a majority vote is required and ballots must be initialed. On the nominating ballot, the following nominations were made: Alderman Salentine Alderman Damaske On the first election ballot, the following votes were cast: Alderman Salentine 6 Alderman Damaske 1 Alderman Salentine was elected to serve as Council representative to the Little Muskego Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District.
