ccm19790417a COMMON COUNCIL CITY OF MUSKEG0 MINUTES OF ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING HELD APRIL 17, 1979 The meeting was called to order at 7 16 P M. by Mayor Jerome J Gottfried. Also present were Aldermen Dumke, Ford, Pienkos, berg was absent. At this time Mayor Gottfried introduced Waukesha County Judge newly elected aldermen of the city. Each alderman was sworn Harold Wollenzien who administered the Oath of Office to the in individually. They were as follows Tomczyk and Wallner and City Clerk Bette J. Bowyer Ald. Schaum- Alderrcan Edwin P Dumke - District VI1 Alderman Tb.omas J. Van Lanen - District IV Alderman Wayne Salentine - District VI Alderman Michael E Weed - District I1 0 Judge Wollenzien congratulated the newly elected aldermen and commented he was pleased to be present this evening for t,his event. Mayor Gottfried also congratulated the newly elected aldermen and at the meeting. expressed his appreciation to Judge Wollenzien for his appearance. Resolution #70-79 - Resolution Expressing Appreciation to Paul J. Schaumberg. Ald. Pienkos moved to suspend the rules that would interfere with the adoption of same. Seconded by Ald. T0mczy.k. Ald. Pienkos moved for adoption. Seconded by Ald Van Lanen Upon a roll call vote the motion to adopt carried unanimously. Upon roll call the motion tc adopt Resolution 1170-79 carried unanimously. (Ald Schaumberg served as alderman for eight years). Resolution 1/71-79 - Resolution Expressing Appreciation to Raymond R Wallner. Ald Pienkos moved to suspend the rules that would Ald Tomczyk. Upon a roll call vote the motion to adopt carried interfere with the adoption of Resolution 1/71-79 Seconded by unanimously. Ald. Pienkos moved for adoption of Resolution 1/71-79. Seconded by Ald Weed. Upon roll call the motion to adopt carried unanimously. At this time Mayor Gottfried presented Raymond Wallner with a signed copy of Resolution ii71-79 along with an engraved placque recognizing his service as alderman for the past six years. ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT - Mayor Gottfried appointed Gary Stewart who was present in the audience to act as ballot clerk. On the nominating ballot for Council President, Ald. Pienkos received one (1) vote, Ald. Ford received one (1) vote, Ald. Dumke received three (3) votes and Ald Tomczyk received two (2) votes. Because a majority vote (4 votes) is necessary, after the third ballot, Ald Dumke received four (4) votes, Ald. Pienkcs received one (1) vote and Ald. Tomczyk received (two) 2 votes Ald. Dumke accepted the position of Council President. He thanked the aldermen for their confidence and the people of the 7th District who voted for him a e ELECTION OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TG PLAN COMMISSION - Ald. Pienkos moved to have the election of the Council representative to Plan Commission be on an open ballot. His motion lost for lack of a second. On the nominating ballot Wayne Salentine received five (5) vctes. Ald. Pienkos received one (1) vote and Ald. Van Lanen received one (1) vote. On the first election ballot Wayne Salentine received six (6) votes. Ald. Pienkos received one (1) vote. As 2/3 voteof the Council uembers are necessar (5), Ald. Salentine was elected to serve as Council Representat Y ve to the Plan Commission. a Common Council 0 Organizational meeting April 17, 1979 Page 2. a COMMUNICATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS The Clerk read a claim from Mr. Fred D. Layman, W180 S7943 Pioneer Drive, Muskego, dated 4/16/79, claiming damages to his car in the amount of $130 00. Same referred to City Attorney and City's insurance carrier and Finance Committee. The Clerk read a claim from Mr. John M. Couture, 13131 W. Janesville Road, in the amount of $15,000 00. Same referred to City Attcrney and city's insurance carrier and Finance Committee. ADJOURNMENT - There being no further business, Ald Tomczyk moved to adjourn. Seconded by Ald. Dumke. Motion carried The meeting adjourned at 7 51 P.M I Respectfully submitted, Bette J.
