ccm19771107Minutes of the Common Council Conunittee of the Whole, held on November 7, 1977, City of Muskego, for the purpose of reviewing the proposed 1978 Budget. Upon a roll call vote those present were Mayor Gottfried, Ald. Pienkos, Ford, Van Lanen, Tomczyk, Dumke and Wallner. Absent, Ald. Schaumberg . Meeting was called to order at 8:lO P.M. by Mayor Gottfried. He indicated that the reason for the meeting was to review and discuss the proposed 1978 revenues and budgetary expenditures, thus setting the budget in readiness for the December 5th, 1977 public hearing. Each category of the proposed budgetary control and anticipated revenues for 1978 was itemized by .the Mayor. Several questions arose from aldermen and they were as follows: Mayor and Common, i.e., Conference and Special Events, Assessor, Professional Services, City Hall, Maintenance of Bldgs. and Grounds, Insurance, General Liability, Employee Welfare, Municipal Retirement, Police Department, Salaries (Officers) Gasoline and Oil and Lubricants, Police Vehicles, Highway Department, Sand Stone and Gravel and Calcium, Salt and Sand and planned programs in 1978 contained within the Park and Recreation Budget. Inall cases informal discussion followed each question with assurances from Mayor Gottfried the decisions met by the Finances as to their reasons for recommendation. The only question raised as to proposed revenue for 1978 was that of highway aids. Ald, Ford moved, as seconded by Ald. Tomczyk, that the Common Council recommend a tentative budget for 1978 be set in the amount of $513,865.22, thus setting a tentative tax levy of $4.22 per $1,000 assessed valuation.
