CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING HELD APRIL 20, 1976, IN THE CITY HALL
Mayor Gottfried called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.
PRESENT - Mayor Jerome J. Gottfried, Aldermen Charles C. Colbum, Ronald
J. Ford, Richard M. Knudsen, Edwin P. Dumke, Paul J. Schaumberg and
Raymond R. Wallner, City Attorney John P. Buckley and City Clerk Bette
J. Bowyer.
At this time Mayor Gottfried introduced Waukesha County Judge William
Callow who administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected officials
of the city. They are as follows: Mayor, Jerome J. Gottfried, City
Clerk-Comptroller Bette J. Bowyer, Treasurer Jean A. Sanders, Assessor
Paul M. DeAngelis, Alderman District I, Mark A. Pienkos, Alderman District
III, Ronald J. Ford and AldermanO;&.V Leslie Constantineau.
Following the installation and a brief address by Judge Callow, Mayor
Gottfried congratulated the re-elected and newly elected officials and
offered comments of praise to the outgoing aldermen Richard Knudsen and
Charles Foldy. Outgoing Ald. Knudsen and newly elected Aldermen Pienkos,
Constantineau and Ford also offered comments.
- ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT - Mayor Gottfried appointed &two reporters
to act as ballot clerks. The nominating ballot results were as
follows: Ald. Dumke 5 votes, Ald. Ford 1 vote and Ald. Schaumberg 1 vote.
On the 1st official ballot Ald. Dumke received 7 votes which elected him
as President of the Cormnon Council. Ald. Dumke accepted the position as
President of the Council.
ELECTION OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO THE PLAN COMMISSION - On the nominat-
ing ballot, Aid. Colbum received 4 votes, Ald. Ford 2 votes and Ald.
Pienkos 1 vote. On the 1st official ballot, Ald. Colbum received 6 votes,
Ald. Ford received 1 vote. Ald. Colbum accepted the position of Council
Representative to the Plan Commission.
COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE MAYOR'S OFFICE - Mayor Gottfried advised that the
forthcoming week would be "Keep Americag Beautiful" Week. He urged all
citizens of the community to do what they can to aid in this cause.

NEW BUSINESS
Resolution $157-76 - The Clerk read same, entitled, Transfer of Funds to
Park & Recreation Capital Budget. Ald. Ford'moved for adoption, seconded
by Ald. Colburn. Ald. Ford explained that the $4,000.00 transfer of
funds would enable the Park and Recreation Department to purchase a
badly needed mower and trailer. Upon a roll call vote the motion to
transfer the funds carried unanimously.
Resolution 1158-76 - Ald. Schaumberg moved to suspend the rules that
would interfere with the adoption of this resolution. Seconded by Ald.
Pienkos. Upon a roll call vote the motion to suspend the rules carried
unanimously. The Clerk read same, entitled, Congratulating the Tess
Comers Volunteer Fire Department on Its 50th Anniversary. Ald. Schaum-
berg moved for adoption, seconded by Aid, Constantineau. Upon roll call
the motion to adopt carried unanimously.
COMMUNICATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS - The Clerk acknowledged receipt
of a petition signed by 520 persons requesting that a referendum be held
on the question of the issuance of general obligation bonds ($1,400,000.00)
(In accordance with S.S. 67.05): Petition referred to Finance Committee
and placed on file.
ADJOURNMENT - Ald. Colburn moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. Pienkos,
motion carried. The meeting adjournedat 8:12 PM. Bette J. Bowyer,Cler
