ccm19750415COMMON COUNCIL CITY OFMUSKEGO MINUTES OF ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING HELD APRIL 15, 1975 0 Prior to the beginning of the meeting Waukesha County Judge Robert T. McGraw administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected aldermen Paul J. Schaumberg, Charles C. Colbum, Raymond R. Wallner and Edwin P. Dumke. Mayor Gottfried called the meeting to order at 7:lO P.M. Also present * were Aldermen Colbum, Schaumberg, Dumke, Wallner and Ford and City Clerk Bette J. Bowyer and City Attorney John P. Buckley. Aldermen Knudsen and Foldy were absent. ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT - Ald. Schaumberg moved to use paper ballots identified by ward and initialed. Seconded by Ald. Ford. Upon roll call the motion carried unanimously. On the nominating ballot for Council President, Ald. Dumke received two votes, Ald. Schaumberg received one vote, Ald. Ford received one vote and Ald. Colburn received one vote. At 8:lO P.M., after the 35th election ballot, Ald. Foldy arrived. After the 37th ballot, Ald. Dumke received one (1) vote, Ald. Schaumberg received four (4) votes and Ald. Colbum received one (1) vote. Ald. Schaumberg accepted the position of President of the Common Council, a At 8:15 P.M. Mayor Gottfried declared a recess and the meeting reconvened at 8:45 P.M. ELECTION OF COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE TO THE PLAN COMMISSION Ald. Schaumberg moved that the election be held by identified paper ballots. Seconded by Ald. Dumke. Upon a roll call vote the motion carried unanimously On the nominating ballot Ald. Colbum received one vote, Ald. Ford received four votes and Ald. Foldy received one vote. On the election ballot, Ald. Ford received five (5) votes and Ald. Foldy received one (1) vote. Ald. Ford accepted the position of Council Representative to the Plan Commission. RESOLUTION $161-75, AS AMENDED - Authorizing Settlement of Vesbach Claim. This resolution was adopted on April 8, 1975, and on April 9, 1975, Mayor Gottfried declared his intent to veto said resolution. The Clerk acknow- ledged the Mayor's veto. AId. Foldy moved to sustain the veto.. Seconded'- by Ald. Dumke. Discussion followed and upona roll call vote to sustain the veto, Aldermen Colbum, Ford, Schaumberg and Wallner voted "no". Ald- ermen Dumke and Foldy voted "aye".Theā€˜mot%n didnotcary. Ald. Ford moved to override the veto. Seconded by Ald. Colbum. Upon a roll call vote to override the veto, Aldermen Colbum, Ford, Schaumberg and Wallner voted "aye" , Aldermen Dumke and Foldy voted "no". Since a thrqe-fourths vote of the Council is needed to override a veto, the motion did not carry. RESOLUTION $184-75 - Approval of Certified Survey Map (Richard A. Koehler) Ald. Schaumberg moved to reconsider this resolution. Seconded by #Id. Ford. Upon a roll call vote to reconsider the motion carried unanimously. Ald. Wallner moved to defer action on Resolution i/84-75 until the question of public access is settled. Seconded by Ald. Colbum. Upon a voice vote the motion to defer carried. COMMUNICATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS - The Clerk acknowledge a claim l from Steven Kotschi served 4114175 for damages incurred on Richdorf Dr. and a claim from Timothv Hauke served 4/14/75 for damages and injuries incurred on Martin Drive. Claims referred to city attorney and insurance carrier. * ADJOURNMENT - Ald. Wallner moved to adjourn, seconded by Ald. Schaumberg. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 9:05 P.M.
