OF DISCUSSING TRE 1972 BUDGET AND CAPITAL BUDGET OF THE CITY.
TRE MEETING WAS HELD AT THE CITY HALL ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 1971
Mayor Gottfried opened the Committee Meeting of the Whole at 7~21 P.M.
Also present were Aldermen Burgermeister, DeBack, Dumke, Foldy, Narlock,
Sapp and Schaumberg and Deputy Clerk June Elger.
Ald. Foldy moved that Mayor Gottfried act as Chairman of the meeting.
Seconded by Ald. Sapp. Ald. Burgermeister moved that nominations be
closed. Seconded by Ald. Sapp, motion carried. Mayor Gottfried aated
as Chairman.
Mayor Gottfried advised that as the proposed 1972 Budget stands, the tax
rate would remain at approximately $2.58 per $l,OOO.OO of assessed val-
uation, the same as in 1971. He further advised that the Finance Conxnittee
-had met with all department heads and in all cases, the salaries of present
employees were to remain as in 1971. He further indicated that a Contin-
gency Fund in the amount of $20,000.00 had been established to cover any
possible increases in salaries for 1972.
Mayor Gottfried reviewed each item of the anticipated revenue for 1972,

the total of which was in the amount of $1,320,314.53. He also went on
to review the anticipated expenditures of the city for 1972, explaining
the reason for any expected increase or decrease.
A discussion took place as to the increase in Health and Hospitalization
Insurance from $11,897.56 to $25,500.00. Ald. Foldy suggested that the
City Clerk again investigate the increase.
Police Chief Kraus beiefly explained certain items in the proposed 1972
Police Department Budget, which will remain approximately the same as in
1971.
Chief Utpatel was also present to explain the increase in his budget (Tess
Corners Fire Dept.) due to the anticipated construction of a sub-station
in the southeast part of the city.
Discussion took place as to the proposed $20,000.00 budgeted for fees
under Contracted Services in the Plan Commission Budget. Aldermen
Schaumberg and DeBack suggested a possible different method of payment
for the city planner and Ald. Foldy suggested better controls as to how
the planner spends his time.
Ald. Narlock moved to increase the amount of $700.00 to $850.00 under
Other Supplies and Expense in the Library Budget to cover the extra
expense of freight deliveries. Seconded by Ald. Burgenneister, motion
carried.
Total amount of the proposed 1972 City of Muskego Budget was $1,320,314.53.
Mayor Gottfried then reviewed the items in the 1972 City of Muskego
Capital Budget.
Ald. Burgermeister moved to increase the Public Works Capital Budget by
$8,000.00 in the Major Road Improvement amount in the Public Works Budget
giving a total amount in the Public Works Capital Budget of $227,500.00.
Motion seconded by Ald. Foldy and carried.

Ald. Narlock moved to increase the 1972 Capital Budget of the Library
a by $90.00 to cover the cost of three chairs. Seconded by Ald. Sapp
and the motion carried. Total amount in the Library Capital Budget
to be $7,478.00.
Grand total for the 1972 Capital Budget for the City of Muskego to
be $757,534.00.
Ald. Sapp moved to submit the proposed 1972 City of Muskego Budget and
the proposed Capital Budget for the year 1972 to the citizens of the
City on November 30, 1971, at 8:00 P.M. in the all-purpose room of
Muskego High School. Seconded by Ald. Burgermeister, motion carried.
Ald. Sapp moved to adjourn the Committee Meeting of the Whole. Seconded
by Ald. Narlock, motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:55 P.M.
