CITY OF MUSKEGO
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MAY 23, 1967
Mayor Gottfried called the meeting to order at 7:40 P.M.
PRESENT - Mayor Gottfried, Aldermen Edmund Budish, Sivier Joost, Jr.,
S. Robert Lentini, Roland Linck, Donald Wieselmann, Myron Weaver
and Walter Wollman. Also present were City Clerk Bette Bowyer and
Attorney Richard Hippenmeyer.
MINUTES - Alderman Wieselmann moved to accept the Minutes of the
meeting held on May 9, 1967, seconded by Alderman Joost, motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Finance Committee - Alderman Linck presented the report of the Finance
Committee meeting held on May 17, 1967, and moved that the report be
accepted and placed on file. Seconded by Alderman Joost, motion carried.
Public Works Committee - Alderman Wieselmann presented the report of
the Public Works Committee meeting held on May 11, 1967, and moved that
the report be accepted and placed on file. Seconded by Alderman Wollman,
motion carried.
Public Safety Committee - No report.
Public Welfare Committee - No report.
Rules, Laws & Ordinance Committee - Alderman Joost presented the report
of the meeting of the Rules, Laws & Ordinance Committee held on May 18,
1967, and moved that the report be accepted and placed on file. Seconded
by Alderman Wollman, motion carried.
Plan Commission - The Council was in receipt of the Plan Commission
minutes of the meeting held on May 16, 1967, and same will be placed
on file.
COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE MAYOR'S OFFICE
Mayor Gottfried reported that he had received a phone call from
Congressman Glenn Davis advising him that the City of Muskego's
proposed sewer project has received approval of the federal govern-
ment, therefore, a portion of the grant will be received. As a result,
the City can go ahead and advertise for bids for the lagoon and the
pumping station. The bids for these projects will be advertised the
early part of June and presented to the Council at their first meeting
in July.
Mayor Gottfried reported that a meeting was held in the city hall on
May 23, 1967, between the State Highway Commission, utility represent-
atives and the contractors who were the low bidders on the Racine Ave.
project. It is expected that the reconstruction will begin the middle
of June and if ideal conditions exist it is hoped that the project
will be completed by October 15, 1967. A discussion took place as to
the practicability of placing utility wires underground in the sewered
areas.

NEW BUSINESS
Resolution $156-67 - The Clerk read Resolution j/56-67, entitled, Urging
the Reconstruction and Realignment of C.T.H. (College Ave.) Westerly l from C.T.H. HI to C.T.H. "Y" (Racine Avenue). Alderman Budish moved
for the adoption of Resolution i/56-67, seconded by Alderman Wieselmann,
motion carried.
Resolution $157-67 - The Clerk read Resolution l/57-67, entitled, Granting
a
a Temporary Permit to Payne & Dolan to Operate an Asphalt Plant in the
City of Muskego. Alderman Lentini moved for the adoption of Resolution
i/57-67, seconded by Alderman Weaver and the motion carried.
Resolution j/58-67 - The Clerk read Resolution 1158-67, entitled, Approval
of Contract Between Associated Hospital Service, Inc. and the City of
Muskego. Alderman Linck moved for the adoption of Resolution f/58-67,
seconded by Alderman Joost. Upon a roll call vote, the motion to adopt
Resolution $158-67 carried unanimously.
Resolution i/59-67 - The Clerk read Resolution 859-67, entitled, Acceptance
of Bid for Sewer Project MSS-l-67. Alderman Weaver moved for the
adoption of Resolution 859-67, seconded by Alderman Wollman. Upon a
a
roll call vote, the motion to adopt Resolution #59-67 carried unanimously.
Resolution 860-67 - The Clerk read Resolution $160-67, entitled, Acceptance
of Bid for Sewer Project MSS-2-67. Alderman Weaver moved for the adoption
of Resolution i/60-67. Seconded by Alderman Wollman. Upon a roll call
vote, the motion to adopt Resolution i/60-67 carried unanimously.
Resolution #61-67 - The Clerk read Resolution 861-67, entitled, Desig-
nation of Legal Lots. Alderman Lentini moved for the adoption of
Resolution f/61-67. Seconded by Alderman Wieselmann, motion carried.
Ordinance #65 - Milwaukee Metropolitan Uniform Building Code. Alderman
Weaver moved to suspend the rules in order to waive the first reading
of Ordinance $165. Seconded by Alderman Wollman. Upon a roll call vote
to suspend the rules, the motion carried unanimously.
At this point in the meeting Mayor Gottfried declared a recess, 8:lO P.M.
and the meeting reconvened at 8:17 P.M.
l LICENSE APPROVAL - Alderman Budish moved for the approval of an Operator’s
License for Mr. George Whalen, seconded by Alderman Linck, motion carried.
VOUCHER APPROVAL - Alderman Joost moved that the Common Council approve
a voucher payment of $1500.00, seconded by Alderman Linck. Upon a roll
call vote, the motion to approve payment of the voucher carried
unanimously.
COMMUNICATIONS AND MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS
The Clerk announced that she was in receipt of a petition signed by
Forrest W. Perkins requesting that the present zoning of RS-2 b@ changed
l to,B-2, Local Service ~Center,,in Section 4.

Alderman Budish moved to set a Public Hearing date relative to the
Milwaukee Metropolitan Uniform Building Code for Tuesday, June 13, at
7:00 P.M. in the City Hall. Seconded by Alderman Weaver, motion
carried.
In answer to a question from Alderman Wieselmann, Attorney Hippenmeyer
stated that there have been no new developments regarding the abolishment
of Farm Drainage District $16.
In answer to a question from Alderman Lentini as to the status of
the negotiations for the Schwefel property, Mayor Gottfried stated
that it was his hope that a meeting could be arranged soon between
the owners of the property and the Finance Committee.
Alderman Weaver questioned why the police radio had not been permitted
to be installed in Constable Roman Banaszak's car. He stated that
Constable Banaszak had approached him on the problem. The problem
will be taken under advisement by the Safety Committee.
In answer to a question from Alderman Joost as to whether or not the
City Assessor had established his office in the city hall or had moved
any city owned equipment or records into the city hall. Clerk Bette
Bowyer stated that the Assessor has not moved any city owned equipment
or records into the city hall, however, the Assessor had informed her
that he would be available in the city hall only on Friday afternoons
between the hours of 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M.
ADJOURNMENT - Alderman Wollman moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded
by Alderman Budish, motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:33 P.M.
