City of Muskego Police & Fire Commission Meeting
July 17, 2008
The quarterly meeting of the Muskego Police & Fire Commission was held on
Thursday, July 17, 2008 in the conference room of the City of Muskego Police
Department. Commissioner Gleason called the meeting to order at 7:00PM.
Pledge of Allegiance
Roll call was taken with Commissioners Gleason, Treba, Kuwitzky, Sindic, and
Mooney present.
Statement of Public Notice was given to the press and posted on Thursday, July 10,
2008. Commissioner Kuwitzky made a motion to approve the agenda items and
Commissioner Sindic seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
Commissioner Kuwitzky made a motion to accept the minutes of the April 17, 2008
meeting. Commissioner Sindic seconded and motion carried unanimously.
REPORT FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Officer Darryl Mahaffy, who was hired to fill the last vacancy, is doing well in
recruit school. He will finish towards the end of August and will start his field
training at the Department.
The Department went through reaccreditation recently and on June 30th the
WILEAG Board approved the process.
On Monday, July 14, 2008, several agencies (FBI, DCI, DEA, Waukesha
County Metro Drug Unit and local police departments) arrested 33 people
throughout the county on heroin charges. Seven of the arrestees are Muskego
residents.
OLD BUSINESS:
Review of Oral Interview Questions – Chief Geiszler explained the results of a
recent query of five local police departments on their hiring processes. After a
short discussion, the Commission agreed to continue with our current process,
which includes the questions asked during the oral interview. The Commission
will also continue to give the Chief a ranked list of candidates.
NEW BUSINESS:
Election of Officers – Commissioner Treba made a motion of Commissioner
Gleason for the position of President and Commissioner Sindic seconded.
Motion carried. Commissioner Mooney made a motion of Commissioner
Kuwitzky for the position of Vice President/Secretary. Commissioner Sindic
seconded and motion carried unanimously.

Nothing
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2008.
Commissioner Mooney made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner
Kuwitzky seconded, motion carried unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at
7:31PM.
