City of Muskego Police & Fire Commission Meeting July 21, 2005 The meeting of the Muskego Police & Fire Commission was held on Thursday, July 21, 2005, in the conference room of the City of Muskego Police Department. Acting Chairman Robert Rammer called the meeting to order at 7:30PM. Pledge of Allegiance Roll call was taken with Commissioners Robert Rammer, Blenda Treba, Lewis Lehman, and Edward Gleason present. Commissioner Terry Sindic was absent. Commissioner Edward Gleason was introduced to the group as the commissioner recently selected by Mayor Charles Damaske to fill the position of Michael Kuwitzky, whose term expired Mayof2005. Statement of Public Notice was given to the press and posted Thursday, July 14,2005. Commissioner Lehman made a motion to approve the agenda items with Commissioner Treba seconding. Motion carried unanimously. Commissioner Lehman made a motion to approve the minutes of the April 21, 2005 meeting minutes. Commissioner Treba seconded and motion carried unanimously. REPORT FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT: . Officer Jim Rozeski is out on sick leave since mid-June and unknown when he will return. . Officer Jeff Fuller is out due to injuries he suffered in a squad accident which occurred on March 10, 2005. Unknown how long he will be off duty. . Officer Justin Handrow was released from employment while on probation. . Officers W estphal, Werner, Monreal, Heusdens, and Bill Jones are doing fine during the field training phase. Three of the officers are on their own and the other two will be shortly. The Commission asked that the Field Training Program be presented at the next meeting. . The 2006 Budget is being worked on and the costliest item is the dispatch center. A decision needs to be made as to which route to take: keep dispatch in Muskego, consolidate with New Berlin PD, or go with WCe. Chief Johnson has formed a committee that is working on this. . The Department is involved in the hiring process for two open positions for Clerical/Telecommunicator. One position is open mid-August and the other position will be open later this year. . Officer Gary Leon is the new Community Resource Officer and the open position for Police School Liaison Officer is posted. OLD BUSINESS: Nothing . . . Commission Lehman made a motion for Robert Rammer to hold the position of President and Commissioner Gleason seconded. Motion carried unanimously. Commissioner Treba made a motion that Lewis Lehman hold the position of Secretary. Commissioner Rammer seconded and motion carried unanimously. . Chief Johnson asked that the Commission entertain a different hiring process for the position of officer. The Department is short one officer and due to two officers on lengthy leave of absences, and no longer having an eligibility list, Chief asked if the Department could open the process to current and previous police recruit classes at WCTC. After a lengthy discussion Commissioner Lehman made a motion that the Commission authorize the Department to create an eligibility list for the current open position of police officer from students in the immediate and previous classes at WCTC Police Recruit Training Academy. Commisioner Treba seconded and motion carried unanimously. The Commission wants to discuss the eligibility list process at the October meeting. Commissioner Lehman moved the meeting be adjourned. Commissioner Gleason seconded and motion carried unanimously.
