pfcm20031016(' CITY OF MUSKEGO POLICE & FIRE COMMISSION MEETING Thursday, October 16,2003 The regular meeting of the Police & Fire Commission of the City of Muskego was held on Thursday, October 16,2003 in the conference room of the City of Muskego Police Department. President Kuwitzky called the meeting to order at 7:31PM. Pledge of Allegiance Roll call was conducted and present were Commissioners Michael Kuwitzky, Robert Rammer, Blenda Treba, Lewis Lehman, and Terry Sindic. The Statement of Public Notice was given to the press and posted at City Hall and the Police Department on Monday, October 13,2003. Commissioner Rammer made a motion to approve the agenda items with Commissioner Sindic seconding. Motion carried unanimously. Commissioner Lehman made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 17,2003 meeting. Commissioner Rammer seconded and motion carried unanimously. ~ REPORT FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT: 1. The Cornell Circle project has been successful. An active and aggressive patrol was established along with tough enforcement of the ordinances. The calls for that area have dropped since implementation of the project. 2. The Commissioners were shown the mural located in the back stairway that was done by several high school students over the summer. It was a job well done. 3. A student intern from Carroll College is working on the Police Department web site. The project is moving forward smoothly and should be done by the end of the year. 4. Chief Johnson stated the Police Department was denied an additional officer for next year. He reiterated to the City that with the growth of the City we couldn't continue to provide proper services without additional manpower. Also, the computer software update was put on hold. 5. The salary survey has been completed for the non-reps. OLD BUSINESS: A six-month probationary period for employees being promoted to a non-rep position was discussed. Commissioner Rammer made a motion and Commissioner Lehman seconded and motion carried unanimously. This will be entered into Policies of the Police and Fire Commission. r .r- Muskego Police & Fire Commission Meeting October 16, 2003 Page 2 NEW BUSINESS: The status of the eligibility list was discussed due to an officer possibly leaving employment. It was decided that the remaining two candidates on the eligibility list would have backgrounds started and if not able to fill from the list then the remaining candidates who have not had an oral interview with the Commission will be interviewed and a list established from those. COMMUNICA TrONS AND OTHER MATTERS AS AUTHORIZED BY LAW: Nothing The next meeting of the Muskego Police & Fire Commission will be held on Thursday, January 15,2004 at 7:30PM.
