The regular meeting of the Police & Fire Commission of the City of Muskego was held on
Thursday, April 13.2000 in the Conference Room of the City of Muskego Police
Department. The meeting was called to order at 7:30PM by President Michael Kuwitzky.
Present were Commissioners Kuwitzky, Richard Petfalski. Robert Rammer, and Blenda
Treba. Absent was Commissioner Moraga.
It was noted the public notice was given to the press and posted at City Hall and the
Police Department on Monday, April 10.2000.
Commissioner Rammer made a motion to approve the agenda items with Commissioner
Treba seconding. Motion carried unanimously.
Commissioner Robert Rammer made a motion to approve the January 20,2000 meeting
minutes. Commissioner Petfalski seconded, motion carried unanimously.
REPORT FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
Chief Johnson reported on the following items:
Construction on the range is progressing and is approximately 113 completed.
Officer Dornbach graduated from the Recruit Academy last week and received
the Ervin Kraus Academic Award. He started his field training this week.
Officers Elsen and Fandre are doing fine with their field training.
Officer Zambo resigned from the Department and is working for Ameritech.

The Department is in the process of hiring his replacement. Officer
Hendrickson has decided to move to Lake Denoon Middle School as their
liaison officer and Candace West has been selected to be a liaison officer with
her position being at Muskego High School. ~i,
stated the current policy is being changed to be consiitent with the
accreditation process the Department is doing. IfJhere are any questions after

Staff as well as the psychologist felt this candidate was marginal and there was
no objection by the Commission to continue with the eligibility list.
Recruitment Process policy and procedures were explained. Chief Johnson
Chapter 4 of the City Ordinances were gone through with the proposed

A motion was made by Commissioner Petfalski to remove James Feld from the
eligibility list as he has notified the Department that he would be unable to
move to Wisconsin at this time. Commissioner Rammer seconded, carried
unanimously.

Written Procedures for the Hiring of a Chief of Police - Commissioner
Petfalski asked that this be deferred until the July 20* meeting due to
Commissioner Moraga not being present.
NEW BUSINESS:
Wisconsin Police Corps. a grant the Police Department applied for in which the
State will pay for the four year college education of a person who wants to be
a law enforcement officer, The student has to guarantee that they will work
for the Department for at least four years. During that four year period the
City will receive $10.000 per year This program was discussed and
Commissioner Rammer made a motion to proceed with the application.
Commissioner Petfalski seconded, motion carried unanimously.

Next meeting will be held on Thursday, July 20. 2000 at 7:30PM.
Commissioner Rammer moved the meeting be adjourned. Commissioner Petfalski
seconded. motion carried unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 8:05PM.
