pfcm19990429CITY OF MUSKEG0 POLICE & FIRE COMMISSION MEETING April 29, 1999 7:30PM The regular meeting of the Police & Fire Commission of the City of Muskego was held on Thursday, April 291h, I999 in the Conference Room of the City of Muskego Police Department. The meeting was called to order at 7:30PM by President Michael Kuwitzky. Present were Commissioners Michael Kuwitzky, Robert Rammer, Roger Moraga, Richard Horn, and Chief Johnson. Also present was newly appointed Richard Petfalski who will begin his appointment in May. Absent was Commissioner Blenda Treba. It was noted that the public notice was given to the press on April 19, 1999. Commissioner Rammer moved to approve the agenda items. Commissioner Horn seconded, motion carried unanimously. Commissioner Moraga moved to approve the minutes from the January 21, 1999 meeting. Commissioner Rammer seconded, motion carried unanimously. REPORT FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT Chief Johnson reported on the following items: 0 I Otficer Terry Hilliker resigned in March and moved to Virginia where his wife 2. Otficer Gary Leon is now in recruit school and was voted the Class President. 3. Officer Robert Tromp has completed his Field Training and is on his own. 4. Chief has not completed researching the residency clause - information was was transferred. received that the State might be working on a statute which would cover that item. Officer who would be located at the new middle school. 5. The Department received a $125,000 grant for a third Police School Liaison 6. Bids for the range construction came in over budget. 7 The Police Department remodeling/addition project is 99% complete. There will be an Open House on June from 9:OO to 12:OOPM. OLD BUSINESS: Claditis. Discussion followed on different ways to conduct the oral interview process. Chief Johnson reported that he has been in contact with the City of South Milwaukee’s Chief who uses the oral interview process presented by Dr Claditis. South Milwaukee will be holding the oral interview process in May and their Chief is checking with the Commissioners to see if some of our Commissioners can attend as observers to see how the system works. The Commissioners expressed an interest in checking tirther into a different oral interview process. Hiring Process - Commissioner Kuwitzky reported on the presentation by Dr Nick 0 0 MUSKEGO POLICE & FIRE COMMISSION MEETING April 29, 1999 Page 2 NEW BUSINESS: Nothing COMMUNICATIONS AND OTHER MATTERS AS AUTHORIZED BYLAW- Commissioner Rammer asked the Chief to explain what the Department is doing to ready itself in the event there is a crisis at a school in this district. Chief Johnson explained about the training our SWAT Team has been doing over the past few years. Another exercise is planned for June that would include several area SWAT teams. years. He was thanked for his many years of service to the City. Commissioner Richard Horn is leaving after serving on the Commission for thirty Richard Petfalski was introduced as the newly appointed Commissioner. Commissioner Moraga moved the meeting be adjourned until July 15, 1999 at 7:3OPM. Commissioner Horn seconded and motion carried unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30PM.
