pfcm19981015ClTY OF MUSKEG0 POLICE & FIRE COMMISSION MEETING October 15, 1998 7:30PM The regular meeting of the Police & Fire Commission of the City of Muskego was held on Thursday, October 15, 1998, in the Conference Room of the City of Muskego Police Department. The meeting was called to order at 7:30PM by President Michael Kuwitzky. Present were Commissioners Michael Kuwitzky, Richard Horn, Blenda Treba, Robert Rammer, and Chief John Johnson. Absent was Commissioner Roger Moraga. It was noted that public notice was given to the press on October 13, 1998 Commissioner Kuwitzky stated that the term “mhg” should be “MHz” in #9 ofthe report from the Police Department. Commissioner Rammer moved to approve the minutes of the July 30, 1998 meeting Commissioner Horn seconded, motion carried unanimously with the correction. REPORT FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. Chief John Johnson reported on the following items: 1 The 1999 Budget had been handed out to the Commissioners. Chief Johnson explained that the Capitol Budget was tentatively approved tonight and the Operating Budget is intact. Questions were answered. 2. The Police Department building expansion is moving along and we are approximately 50% completed. 3. Construction on the Firearm Range has begun with the construction of the berms. 4. It was reported that the 800MHz system will be a countywide program with the possible exception of Menomonee Falls. This is something that will be implemented within the next few years. 5. Consolidated Dispatch is a separate system from the 800MHz system. This is a means to save the county money. The study was presented to the Cooperation Council and we have a copy of the study within the Department if anyone wishes to look at it. OLD BUSINESS: Nothing 0 MUSKEG0 POLICE & FIRE COMMISSION MEETNG October 15, 1998 Page 2 NEW BUSnUFSS: The Department is anticipating the hiring an officer to start January, 1999, if approved by the Common Council in the 1999 Budget. The process of developing an eligibility list for future positions has begun. October 3" was the written State test. Physical Fitness Testing is scheduled for October 31'' at 8:OOAM The Commission elected to send letters to the top fifteen (15) candidates from the State inviting them to participate in the physical fitness testing. Those that pass, will be asked to participate in the oral interviews which was decided to be held on Saturday, November 21", 1998, beginning at 8:OOAM. COMMUNICATIONS AND OTHER MATTERS AS AUTHORIZED BY LAW. Nothing. Commissioner Kuwitzky moved the meeting be adjourned until January 21", 1999 at 7:3OPM.
