The regular meeting of the Police & Fire Commission of the City of Muskego was held on
Thursday, October 16, 1997, in the conference room of the City of Muskego Police
Department. The meeting was called to order at 7:36PM by President Michael Kuwitzky.
Present were Commissioners Michael Kuwitzky, Robert Rammer, Richard Horn, and
Chief John Johnson. Absent were Commissioners Blenda Treba and William Martin.
Commissioner Rammer moved that the agenda be approved as printed. Seconded by
Commissioner Horn Motion carried unanimously.
Commissioner Horm moved to approve the minutes from the July 17, 1997 meeting as
published. Commissioner Rammer seconded and motion passed unanimously.
REPORT FROM POLICE DEPARTMENT
1 The 1998 Budget has passed through all stages so far, November 11 th will be
the final determination. Chief explained about the reorganization of the department stating
that he is not adding new personnel but shilling responsibilities among present employees.
This would not take effect until at least April of 1998 and will be brought before the
Police & Fire Commission at the January meeting. An additional position for police
officer was added and the Chief explained that within the next four years or so, we will
need an additional 4 112 bodies to cover the south end ofthe City. Commissioner
Kuwitzky asked about the effect of Moorland Road on the City and the Chief explained
that he believes it would not bring more crime to the City but rather more serious crime
might occur

2. The proposed building expansion was discussed.
3. We received a check for $396,200 from the FBI last week for the construction
of the firearms range. Chief Johnson explained there are only four other such ranges in
the United States and this will be a state-of-the-art facility.
4. Sgt. Manske is back on full-time duty and doing good.
5. Officer Candace Luczak is off probation and doing well.

NEW BUSINESS:
It was decided to start the hiring process in order to put a new officer on beginning in
January of 1998. Letters are to be sent to the next twenty (20) candidates on the
eligibility list we used earlier this year, November 15, 1997 will be the oral interviews for
all interested candidates.

Commissioner Horn moved that the meeting be adjourned until January 15, 1998 at
7:30PM. Seconded by Commissioner Rammer and motion carried unanimously. The
meeting adjourned at 8:30PM.
