pfcm19871022POLICE AND FIRE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MUSKEGO October 22, 1987 City of Muskego was held on Thursday, October 22, 1987, in the conference room The regular quarterly meeting of the Police and Fire Commission of the of the Police Department. The meeting was called to order at 7:59PM by Vice President Kreuser. Present were Vice PresidentISecretary Kreuser; Commissioners James Haag, Richard Horn and Blenda Treba; and Chief Johnson. Commission President Purdy was absent. 1987 meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Horn. Motion carried unanimously. Commissioner Haag moved for the adoption of the minutes of the July 30, Chief Johnson reported the following: The 1988 Budget was approved. The International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference was the only item cancelled. Approval was granted to change the part-time clerical position into a full time position. The police charter will also be changed to reflect same. Commissioner Haag questioned if there had been problems having the Budget approved. Chief Johnson stated that the Council had been very responsive to the department's needs and had made only that one major cut, the IACP Conference. A $128,000 Drug Grant has been written and submitted to Madison. It will be used by CODE (Cooperative Drug Enforcement Group of Waukesha County) of which our department is a part. The Muskego Police Department was the featured department in the Wisconsin Chiefs' Magazine. Commissioner Haag requested information on the Lion's Park Drive problem. Chief Johnson reported that the problem is with the number of cars using this roadway and not with their speed. This was confirmed by a survey conducted by the department. The problem was referred to the Public Safety committee. Chief Johnson reported that there is a problem with kids at Parkland Mall. They are loitering, causing disturbances and annoying customers. The Woman's Club, in conjunction with the merchants, would like to do something to alleviate this problem. An ordinance regarding smoking at the High School is in the process of being passed by the City. OLD BUSINESS: There was none. Commissioner Horn moved to extend the eligibility list to the next quarterly meeting at which time it will be reviewed again. Seconded by Commissioner Treba. Motion carried unanimously. COMMUNICATIONS: There were none. Commissioner Kreuser stated he had a conflict with meeting on the third Thursday of the month and requested that it be changed to the fourth Thursday or January 28. All Commissioners present agreed. Commissioner Haag moved that the meeting be adjourned. Seconded by Commissioner Horn. Motion carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 8:35PM. I I" Ru'bErt J.
